"Show them" Cheryl whispered, even though the other three heard. The three of them looked at Kimberley, waiting for her to show them whatever it was. Kimberley took a deep breath and stood up.
Cheryl's heart was beating fast as Kimberley fiddled with the bottom of her shirt.
"Go on" Cheryl encouraged. Kimberley nodded and lifted her shirt up, stopping just under her bra. She put her hand on her belly and looked at the table in front of her. She couldn't bring herself to look at the girls.
Cheryl had a big smile on her face as she took in the girls reactions. All their mouths had fallen open when they saw the obvious bump.
It was silent so Kimberley looked up at the three girls, seeing the shock on their faces, which all were smiling as well.
"Oh my God!" squealed Nicola, jumping out of her seat and taking a better look at the pregnant belly. She put her hands on it and felt around.
Nadine steadily got up off the sofa and walked over to Kimberley with a big smile on her face, soon joined by Sarah as well. The three girls all felt the bump while Kimberley turned to give Cheryl a kiss.
"Congratulations!" said Nadine, not being able to stop looking at the new life hidden inside one of her closest friends.
"Well done, Kimbo!" cheered Sarah, patting her on the back.
"This is amazing" Nicola said while clapping her hands. "How far gone are you?" she asked excitedly.
"She's four months" Cheryl replied for her, rubbing Kimberley's belly as they sat down again.
"Wow" said Nicola, taking a sip of her drink.
"I get now why Kimberley's not drinking, but why aren't you Chez?" Sarah asked, watching the two girls cuddle up together on the sofa.
"I'm being a responsible parent" she grinned, she felt butterflies in the stomach at hearing herself say she's going to be a parent.
"Congratulations to you as well then babe" said Nadine to Cheryl.
"Thanks" she replied, smiling at her.
"Sorry if this is a stupid question... but is it Justin's or...?" Sarah started, wondering if it was when her and Justin were still together or a doner for the both of them.
"Yeah, it's Justin's" she said. "He's going to be a part of the little ones life as well" she said, answering what all the girls were thinking.
"Cool... do you know the sex yet?" Nicola asked before noticed a brown envelope on the table. "Are these scans?" she asked as she reached down to pick the envelope up.
"We didn't want to know just yet and yes, have a look if you like" Kimberley replied with a smile. Sarah moved from where she was sitting so she could have a look as well. Nadine moved in closer so they all could see.
"Are you okay now baby?" Kimberley asked the Geordie quietly and the three girls cooed over the scans.
"Yeah, relaxing a bit more now" she replied. She put her hand on Kimberley's thigh and leaned in to kiss her. They both pulled back and smiled at each other, everything they wanted to say they could read in each others eyes.
"I love you" Kimberley whispered into Cheryl's ear so the other three wouldn't hear their moment. Cheryl cupped Kimberley's face in her hand and moved her lips close to her girlfriends so they were centimetres apart.
"I love you too" she mumbled. Kimberley could feel the words coming out of her mouth as her breath hit her lips. They kissed again then turned back to face the girls who were all looking at them both with adoring looks on their faces.
"Sorry" Cheryl blushed, putting some distance between herself and Kimberley.
"Don't be silly Chez" said Sarah then winking at her, which made Cheryl blush even more.
"I'm glad you got us all together to share this moment" said Nadine in a quiet voice. Cheryl could tell she was feeling bad about not telling them all about her own news before she told the world.
"Congratulations to you as well, Nadine" said Cheryl. It was the first time she had spoke about it to Nadine. Her voice was a sad one even though she tried to stop it.
"I'm sorry" Nadine said, feeling ashamed at how far they all had drifted.
"It's okay" replied Cheryl.
"It's not okay Cheryl. I'm so sorry I never told you all first... and you still invited me here to tell me this news. I don't deserve it" she said, not being able to make eye contact with any of them. Cheryl got up and held her hands out to Nadine so she would stand up.
"It's okay Nadine, I promise. I know we've all drifted, but we'll always be friends" the Geordie woman said before pulling Nadine into a heart felt hug.
