There was only one more emotion Cheryl could feel that would hurt Kimberley more than she was in that moment, and that was her girlfriend crying. She thought too soon as she watched Cheryl's eyes glaze over before she bowed her head and started crying heavily.
"I've heard enough" the judge said. He nodded to the room as he stood down and everyone got up to leave apart from Kimberley and a still crying Cheryl. Kimberley sat there for a few more moments with her arms crossed until everyone had left the room. A worker of the courts stood by the door as the room was still being occupied.
Kimberley quietly stood up and walked over to Cheryl. She hesitantly placed her hand on her back and the younger girl immediately turned and cried against Kimberley. She let out a sigh of relief and hugged her.
"I'm... I'm s.. sorry" the Geordie sobbed, her hands clenching into fists with material from Kimberley's shirt buried in them.
"Sssh... I know" she soothed, running her hand slowly up and down her back to calm her.
"I loved him" she cried. "I don't like people saying shit about him" she sniffed, burying her head further into Kimberley. The older woman wanted to stick to her word but found herself feeling a bit envious towards the man her girlfriend was once married to. She tried to justify to herself that Cheryl was indeed married to him, so of course she would still feel something for him as it wasn't her fault for their split... but they did split and now her and herself were an item.
Kimberley smiled and held Cheryl tighter. She placed a couple of kisses on her head before pulling away a little.
"Why are you smiling?" Cheryl wondered, a slight frown on her face. Kimberley wiped her tears away.
"You love me" she said. Cheryl instantly smiled and looked at Kimberley in the way she always did. After the short moment before when Cheryl had her little outburst, Kimberley had missed her loving eyes already.
"I do" the younger woman smiled. "So much" she leant in and kissed Kimberley slowly on the lips. "I'm sorry Kimba, I never meant to say that to you, ever"
"It's okay babe" Kimberley smiled sadly. "I know you're just stressed out from the day" Cheryl nodded, thankful that Kimberley knew how she was feeling.
"Still feel stupid for saying that to you. I don't even know what made us do it. Stress shouldn't be an excuse" she sighed to herself sadly.
"You have feelings Chez, they have to be let out sometimes" she replied, wiping away the stray tear that fell from Cheryl's eye.
"I shouldn't have taken it out on you" she bit her lip and placed her hand on Kimberley's waist. She gently stroked her with her thumb.
"I shouldn't have interrupted you" she smiled. "It's my fault"
"No it's not" Cheryl said a little loudly. Kimberley giggled at her little frown at her words. "You were trying to protect us. It's just in that moment... I was so worked up, you know?"
"I know" Kimberley nodded with a small smile at Cheryl's sorry eyes which were again full of tears.
"I'm such a fucking idiot" said the younger girl, wiping her tears away with a small laugh even though she didn't find it funny.
"Cheryl, it's okay, really. As long as you are okay... are you?" she wondered, stroking her hair gently.
"I am if you are" she replied, her eyes nearly begging for Kimberley to be okay with it.
"I am" the older woman smiled. Cheryl breathed a sigh of relief.
"I love you Kimba" she said, pulling her girlfriend in for a cuddle.
"I love you too" she smiled softly to herself as she held Cheryl in her arms. "Come on babe, we should be getting home now" she said, looking around at the empty court room apart from the man standing at the door, looking away from the couple.
The Geordie took Kimberley's hand and stepped down from the stand and left the court room with her following close behind.
"Why was he asking us them weird questions?" she asked Kimberley after a silent while as they walked to her car. The older woman stopped walking and took her into her arms.
"He was trying to make you tell them the truth babe" the older woman replied, holding her hand on the back of Cheryl's head as it rested on her shoulder.
"I did tell the truth" she sighed.
"I know" she replied, pulling out of the embrace. "He was a bit crap though, wasn't he?" she giggled. "Must have been cheap"
"He still made us feel small though" the Geordie said. Kimberley placed her hand on the bottom of Cheryl's back and continued the walk to her car.
"At least you've done your bit, it's all over now" she smiled while getting in Cheryl's car next to her.
"I shouldn't have lost my temper though. What if they use that against him?" she wondered, biting her lip a little.
"Don't worry about that. That was your doing, not his" she said, Cheryl blushed slightly and nodded.
"Babe I should apologise for something..." she started, biting her lip slightly. "About us liking the controlling thing... I shouldn't have been so forward about that" she blushed with a sorry face.
"It's okay, I know what you can be like in bed" she grinned. "Babe please remember that I'm fine with you having previous partners because I have as well, neither of us can help that" she said after noticing how Cheryl was being about her sex life with Ashley.
"I just don't want to make you feel like he was better or something, you know?" the Geordie said while concentrating on the road.
"How many times have you come like that?" she asked. The question made her lose balance of her driving.
"Twice" she mumbled, blushing slightly.
"Who did that to you?" the older woman questioned.
"You" she replied.
"So do you really think that I think he was better than me at satisfying you?" she wondered. Cheryl pulled over into a random driveway, unbuckled her seat belt and leant over and kissed her girlfriend on the lips. Kimberley tugged on Cheryl's bottom lip gently with her teeth before running her tongue over it.
"You satisfy us more just by kissing us" she breathed onto Kimberley's neck. She had her hand on the back of her neck and rested her cheek against the older girls.
"At least my lips are good for one thing at least then" she teased as Cheryl got back to driving.
"Trust me babe, kissing isn't the only thing that those lips of yours can do to keep me satisfied" she smiled, glancing quickly to her then back to the road.
"Thought that might be your answer" the older woman replied.
"Is it my fault you've got that huge ego?" the Geordie asked as they pulled up into their road.
"Says the Queen of all egos herself" she said, sticking her tongue out at her girlfriend before they both climbed out of the car.
