Hello, I'm Morgan freeman and welcome to "Mary-Sues and how to Spot Them."
First of all, What is a Mary-sue?
A Mary-sue (or Gary-Stu, if it's a male) is a character that is either:
A) perfect and pure in every single way and has no flaws
B) Super fucking edgy, has no happiness in their life, or "emo because they hate themselves" for no reason
C) overpowered (Op) or Super strong
D)(this is a female example) A that every single character loves them because why the fuck not, even the Canonically gay males/straight females.
How to spot a Mary Sue:
-They often have bright colours if they are the A,C and D types, or super dark, black, grey and red colours if they are the B type
-Their back story often collides with the canon storyline
-They Often have ridiculous names, such as Queen herliope the 37291
- The art is terrible (There are a few exceptions to this, however)
- They are almost always in a relationship, most of the time with a canon character. (There are also exceptions to this too, mostly in the B type.)(there are also oc's x Canon parings that actually work, because they don't share other traits of Mary-sues, so it's not a Mary Sue. Duh.)
- SUPER KAWAIICAT EARS AND TAIL!!!!!!!111!!2!1!!!1!!!11!!1!!!ONE!!2!!!!11!1!1!1!!11!
Let's take a look at a Mary Sues. (Note: this is a real oc that I found)
Name: princess bubblegum (NOT FROM ADVENTURE TIME)
Fandom: FNaF
Sex: female
Sexuality: straight (already this makes no sense because they are robots)
Partner: Foxy
Appearance: purple hair, blue eyes, white gloves, blue purple and white cat ears/tail, blue skirt with purple and white Ruffles and strips of blue fabric held to the skirt by Purple Hearts attached to her blue crop-top, also held by Purple Hearts. Also white-skinned. (this hurt me to write.)
Backstory: (brace yourself) Princess bubblegum used to be a princess on the planet helliotrip (???) before it was destroyed. she escaped, and found Freddy fazbears pizza, where she used her shape shift abilities to turn into an animatronic. Foxy fell in love with her, and they got together while the people that destroyed her planet look for her.
That is just... No.
