I wipe off the counter top. Im done. I wipe some sweat off of my forehead and I look at the clock. 9pm. I grab all of my cleaning supplies and I go into the living room. "Im done."

Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlin look up from their books and smile at me. "Great. See you tomorrow Esmeralda."

I smile and nod as I walk out to my car. I sigh as I pull out to drive all the way home. I stop at a red light and see everyone at the club having fun. I smile and Nina runs to my car.

"Esme!"

I jump and hold my head. "Nina, I am in a car. Cmon calm down."

"Sorry girl! Haha okay so you HAVE to come into the club! All the men are asking for you." She smirks and I shake my head.

"I have to go to sleep. I have work tomorrow." The car behind me blows its horn and I signal for it to go around. I turn to Nina. "I have to go."

"You never do anything but clean them damn people's house like you're a slave!"

"A slave with a paycheck. Later." I drive off home and I pass out on my bed. I used to work the bars at night after my day job because it payed a lot, but you can get caught up in a lot of mess at clubs. Plus, what do I need all of that extra money for? I dont have children, Im not married, Im not a shopaholic, and my rent is fairly low. I dont need extra.

I wake up at 6AM and shower. I see the sun coming through the window and I smile to myself. "Thank you God for another beautiful day." I hop out the shower and wrap a towel around myself while Im cooking scrambled eggs. The phone rings and I look at the ID. Its Granny. I will call her once Im settled .I turn off the stove and I eat my eggs slowly while watching the early morning news. "A bus flipped over just ten minutes ago in the intersection-" I turn the channel to Maury. I would much rather watch a bunch of crazy people embarass themselves on television than hear about children dying. I wash my plate and fork and get one of my cleaning outfits off of the hanger. All of my cleaning outfits are worn out. I need to go get some more. I throw on a brown cleaning outfit. I put my hair in one big braid and put my bandana on over it. I put my Kswiss on and head out the door with my cleaning supplies. Another day, another mess to clean up. I drive all the way to Nottingdale where I clean for the Chamberlins. They are nice people and they pay me well. Mrs. Chamberlin works as an attorney and her husband works at a big corporation. They have one daughter who is 13 who goes to school. I see her when she gets home. Her name is Brooke. She is nice too. I park in the driveway and I get my cleaning stuff out.

Mr. Chamberlin walks past me. "Hello Esmeralda. See you tonight."

"Hello Mr. Chamberlin. Have a great day at work." He waves me off and drives away.

Mrs. Chamberlin runs out the door with her clicking stilettos. "Goodbye Esmeralda!"

"Good luck with the case Mrs. Chamberlin!"

She drives off and I go into the house. I look around. "Time to get to work." I start with the kitchen and end with the kitchen since it is used the most. I scrub off the counters and the table. I reorganize the spices and boxed meals, then I sweep and mop the floor. Okay, living room. I dust the ceiling fan and clean off the tv and the tv stand with the DVD player, Xbox, Playstation 3 and Wii consoles. I wipe down the windows and the couches. I vaccum the floors then get the steam cleaner. I havent done this in a week and its time for this carpet to look the perfect shade of white. I take my Ipod touch out and put the earbuds in. I turn it to "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind, and Fire and I start steam cleaning the carpet. I sing along, cheerfully. I know, its the worst thing being a maid, but I actually like cleaning. I like seeing things that are brown turn white, mold and mildew disappearing from showers and refridgerators, and I like having people walk into their homes after a long day of work happy that they dont have to clean their houses. Plus, its so peaceful. "Mary Jane" by Rick James comes on and I smile. "That man needs some rehab." I clean out the steam cleaner and I put it away in the closet. I look at the suits in the closet. I frown at the wrinkles. I take them all off the hanger and I pull out the ironing board. I let the iron heat up as I use a lint roller on the suits. Once the iron is hot, I iron all of the clothes to perfection. Im kinda a perfectionist. I guess thats good for a cleaning lady. I hang up all of the suits and I make my way up to the second floor. Bathroom #1. I spray the shower so it can have time to foam up and I scrub the toilet. I wipe out and reorganize the cabinets and wash out the sink. The shower is done foaming so I rinse that out and wipe it down. I sweep and mop the floor. I walk out so the floor can dry and I smile.
