A Rekindled Flame

The Count Down

*Kindle's POV*
I was woken out of my sleep by Zuri crying at 3 o'clock in the morning. I felt Hazel push me off of her stomach to get out of bed. I grew irritated.

"I'll go warm the bottle, you get Zuri." She walked out the room before I could respond.

I got up and walked to Zuri, she was screaming at the top of her lungs. Honesty walked in as soon as I picked her up. "Yo what happened?" She had to scream over Zuri for me to hear her.

"I'm not sure she just started screaming." She shook her head than stood next to me as I bounced Zuri up and down.

"Hey lil mama shhhh it's okay, Auntie is here now. You don't have to cry anymore okay?" I continued bounce her up and down as I brushed her hair.

"Just breathe with me, calm down and breathe, you trust your Auntie? Because Auntie won't let anything bad happen to you okay?" She opened her eyes and focused them on me as she began to calm down.

Hazel came in with the bottle.
"See you get to eat now. Is that what you want? Your bottle?" I took the bottle from Hazel and placed it in Zuri's hands.

"Dang you hold your own bottle already?" Hazel laughed at how tight Zuri grip was on the bottle.

"You want to sleep with us or you want a buddy with you in your cradle?" I watched Zuri as she drunk her milk.

"Try putting a stuff animal in the crib first, if she doesn't like it place her in between us. Don't get jealous either." Hazel got up and put the teddy bears in the cradle.

I took the bottle from Zuri and started burping her. "Please don't throw up on me Zuri."

Hazel handed me a diaper rag, "Be prepared for anything and everything."

A few minutes later Zuri fell asleep so I placed her in the cradle beside Mr. Kringle and Mrs. Tootsie. I had them since I was little. I kissed her on her forehead and headed back to bed. Honesty told us goodnight than walked out.

As soon as I pulled the covers back Hazel assumed her position. "At least you know what to do" I joked.

She closed her legs "Go sleep somewhere else than goodnight." She turned around on her side.

"Yo chill." I tried to open her legs with my hands but I couldn't. "Man chill out I'm tired Haz."

She went into a fetal position and stayed there. "Alright I got something for you." I pulled the covers off of her and made me a fort on the ground.

"Kindle it's cold, give me the covers and stop playing." she threw a minor temper tantrum.

"Let me lay on top of you and stop playing than."

"I want an apology first." She crossed her arms.

"Alright my bad. Now let me go to bed."

She motioned me to come onto the bed. I put the covers on the bed than climbed in on top of her. I wrapped my arms around her waist as tight as I could than took her scent inside my nose. She smelled so good to me.

She rubbed the back of my head as I drifted back to sleep. "Better doze off quick cause something tells me she's going to want to sleep up under you. Maybe your brother keeps her in the bed with him."

"Yeah I'll just go ahead and do that." I got back up and put Zuri in between me and Hazel. "I wonder what's going on with him. Like truthfully going on. Years ago I thought he was dead, now he's back and he just sent me Zuri out of nowhere. I didn't even know she existed until earlier this week." Zuri held my index finger in my hand as she slept.
