Chapter Two : Aura
I never understood the average high school student. I say that like I'm not one because I'm not. I'm not the same as any of these sex crazed demons.
I stood in my own spot on the side of the hallway. Cocking my foot up on the lockers as I people watched people walk back and forth.
I dug my hand in my pocket. Everyone seemed so sure of themselves. Like they knew what they were doing or what they had to do. I just don't see how they have it all figured out.
My attention was caught when Draya came down the hall screaming my name running to me with open arms as one of her girl friends and a boy who seemingly couldn't take his eyes off his phone, walked behind her.
I haven't spoken to anyone in this school because it would be pointless. There's only 4 days left so why bother making friends. Not that I had any to begin with. I always had to keep my distance from people. "Never too close," Ma' always said.
"Hey Rusty," Draya smiled as the two people behind her caught up, "I knew I'd see you again."
"Well we're neighbors," I fake chuckled, "I would've had to endure you sooner or later." I mumbled to myself scratching the back of my head.
"I couldn't hear you," she giggled, flipping her hair back over her shoulder.
"Nothing."
"Well, I don't want it to be awkward so, Rusty, this is Natasha. Natasha, Rusty." she pushed her friend ahead of her making her stumble on my chest.
"Sorry," she looked up to me nervously. She thinks I'm cute too. Just like Draya.
She turned her head at Draya, backing away from me a bit, "Bitch why would you push me?"
"Oh shut up."
As they bickered and argued over whether or not Natasha should beat Draya up, my attention focused on the boy who seemed to be in his own world too much to even think about the real one.
There was something off about him. I could see his Aura. It was plain and bland. Uninterested in any and everything. Just there in the world, taking up space from the other beautiful Auras he could possibly have. That wasn't what was wrong though. It was clear to me he was the same one that stared at me from his window yesterday. But his aura was different from yesterday, but just barely and I couldn't read his thoughts like I could Draya, Natasha or any other person for that matter. It's a first.
I squinted my eyes at him a little. Maybe he could feel me staring at him. But to no luck. Not one peek from his phone.
"What's his name?" I interrupted Draya and Natasha's annoying back and forth, nodding to the boy.
"Who him?" she pointed back to the guy, surprised I even acknowledged his prescense, "That's my twin brother, De'Andre. He's weird. Don't pay him attention."
Even when she spoke of him, he refused to look up. People are very emotional. When they feel attacked by words they often defend themselves. But not him. He continued to look into his phone with a blank expression, leaving me hopeless as to what he could be thinking or feeling.
