Chapter Six : Meditation

Ronnie "Rusty" Cortez ( In Media 😍 😍 ]

I smiled to myself after locking my window.

De'Andre. So effortlessly does he claim his spot in my mind. I don't know what it is that attracts me to him. He does something to me that no one else has been able to before. Why can't I resist him? He's mysterious and strange in his essence yet beautiful all at the same time.

I sighed in exhaustion and closed my curtains to engulf my room in darkness.

"So you're into guys?" A voice spoke loud and clear from behind me. It sounded all too familiar. The deepness of his voice made it even more obvious who it was.

A slight huff slipped from my mouth as I began to turn around. "Not that I care," he insisted, "It's just a little unexpectedWho am I to talk though, huh?" He disregarded himself as he paced around my room, swiping his fingers on everything. His essence was almost smoke-like; he seemed both present and absent at the same time.

"I'm not gay." I rolled my eyes at him.

"De'Andre. Is that his name?" He asked, ignoring me completely but I knew by the way he was talking that he would answer his own question. " You like him don't you?"

"...Yes."

"Then we have our answer." He smiled.

"No. We don't. " I said getting annoyed at this point. "I'm attracted to his- His mind." I stutter catching myself, "Not his body." Even though it's a plus.

"Sure." He laughed with smugness. I don't think the bible ever mentioned just how childish and immature he could be.

"What did you want again? Cause you've just about out-welcomed your stay."

He gave me a smirk that would probably be noted as his classic 'devilish smirk' before disappearing into the shadows of my room.

I huffed again in annoyance as he's managed to agitate me twice in one day and made my way through the hall towards the kitchen where Ma should be. The smell of tomato sauce cooking on the stove made me impatient to reach the kitchen itself.

Zuri sat at her little, princess table while Ma cooked her special spaghetti. She danced and sang around the kitchen moving back and forth to sprinkle spices and seasonings here and there. I smiled to myself as I watched her in her element.

"Her cooking was always good."

A voice shook in my mind that I recognized and familiarized myself with at this point. He's in my damn head now. Someone remind me to never let him do that E.T. finger shit to me ever again.

"Ronnie! Hello!" Ma yelled at me to get my attention. I snapped my attention to her with a quick 'huh?'.

"What's wrong with you boy? You daydreaming?"

I hesitated for a second, unsure if she would believe me when I told my lie, "Uh, yeah. Something like that."

I studied her facial expression to see if she would give, without pushback. I've never had to lie to her before. She stopped looking at me and returned to cooking, giving me a slight sign of relief.

"Where have you been without calling and letting me know? I haven't seen you all day. Had me nervous and worried." She asked. I can never tell if she's mad or not. Her aura is always positive and filled with light, due to her being an Angel, I guess.

"I went out with some friends," I said walking away to the kitchen table. Trying to lie my way into some normalcy.

'I'm your friend now?'
