Hidden Haggard Helpless Hero

I am the one who fights the good fight

Call me a crusader

I know what's wrong and what is right

Don't call me a hater

But I'm not a hero

'Cuz I rise when others fear them

Too scared their friends'll hear them

No one will wanna come near them

I've got nothing to prove

Nothing to lose

I fight cowards for cowards

Nothing better to do

But it's not what I'm good at

I raise my voice, others say "Who's that?"

I speak up, they say "Screw that!"

They don't want to do that!

They don't want to believe!

I fight but lack the energy

The words don't come to me readily

The rioters, they charge at me

Screamin' accusations of atheistic apostasy

They'll never see the best in me

So obsessed with always testing me

But the Spirit will never rest in me.

And I'm tired of fighting

Someone take the cup away from me

The hidden haggard helpless hero

Invisible until evil tempts me.

And hypocrisy's breath hitches in its own oxymoronic revelry.

Asphixiating steadily

Till my mind caves in with apathy,

But the Spirit shall never waver within me.
