The Matter of War

I ponder the things

Like the state of the world

The beginnings of the world and

The end of the world.

I muse over things

Like the human state of mind

The basic act of survival

And the instinctive act of protection

And the aggressive act of domination.

And how every one person

Wants their institution to be world dominant

And how they will fight and defend

And conquer and kill

And tear the world asunder

Just to own the world.

And when they finally win

They will not own the world

But their spirit of destruction will won the world

Because when it's all over

There won't be a world to own.

I always wonder why

People act like this

That they would throw away their innocence for instinct.

It is because innocence is an illusion to them

And does no wrong

And this world has become wrong?

And is it because instinct is what drives them to survival

And to act in any way to stay alive?

Because in the matter of war

That is all we are.

We are mindless animals acting on baser instincts of

Conquer and kill

Protect only what is yours.

Loose alliances are nothing in the end because

In the matter of war

We are like the broken ones

Who spill their own blood

To replace pain with pain.

Because as we are caused pain

We cause pain in return.

But in the end

We are all racing to self-destruction.
