*Flashback*

I am standing on the ladder with a new bulb in my hand and the old one in the other, the lamp shade sways back and hits my head as I try to figure out a way to put the old one somewhere and place the new one in the socket by holding the lamp shade in place.

I rub my forehead with the back of my hand where I was hit. I take a deep sigh, and with the hand holding the old bulb I try to hold the lamp within my two fingers and place the new one, I know I could just get down leave the old bulb but hail laziness. But just as the bulb is fixed in the socket the other one almost tumbles out of my grip, in my frail attempt to grab it my leg slips, that's it, I close my eyes, cold hard ground here I come.

Rather than the hard ground I am hung in mid-air with sturdy arms wrapped around my waist.I quickly open my eyes and a smile beams from one ear to another as I see the face of my rescuer "You're back!" I exclaim as my feet touch the ground when he gently puts me down. I try to contain my excitement and not look like a fool, but I ditch that when I see his face reflecting the same joy.

"What is it? Do you have some holiday? Wait, are you fine? Are you here because you are sick?" I quickly check his forehead. He holds my hand, "I am fine, and now that I've seen you I am more than fine." We both stand there goofily smiling, "Then?"

"Actually, I am here because I think enough of you holding my house up, changing bulbs, paying bills, fixing the roof and god knows what so I thought I should be back here, for good and relieve you of all these duties." He says while taking the ladder away and not looking at me.

"You left the job?! Are you serious? Why?! Look it's not at all an issue, I mean your mom never even tells me I do all this because I want to. You don't have to leave everything because of something like, this" I rant as he comes towards me his head shaking in silent laughter.

"This isn't funny, mister. Are you joking? You cannot just leave your job, I mean this was so important to you." Could he be pulling a prank on me? Possibly, he probably came back to see Ma and now is trying to fool me that has to be it.

"I came back for you." He says breaking my chain of thoughts with his eyes sternly set on mine and his face completely serious, and if I could I would melt right there. Did he just say that or I imagined it or was it another thought in my head?

"Look seriously, what happened?" I try to sound serious and push the creeping blush away.

His brow frowns and he moves forward holding both my hands firmly and standing right in front of me. "I came back because I missed you, I would see people eating together, doing goofy things, darn it I would see people walk together and I would miss you."

"And.....now?" I trailed in a low voice.

His straight face breaks into a smile, "Now, we figure out things together. Someone will definitely employ me, you know the whole living in an upscale city was a passing dream, I am never living without you. Life sucks without you, no one to push down benches and chairs."

"Never?" I ask slightly nervous, if this whole thing was being said by him in an absolute friendly context I wouldn't want to sound cheeky.

"Never." He affirms by looping his arm around my shoulder. "You are stuck with me for this lifetime, the quicker you accept it the better."

My heart swells at the thought, gladly I say to myself but to him "Tough life isn't it?"

"So, tough" that triggers him to lift me on his shoulder and the entire room is ringing with laughter that I want to hear all my life.
