The failing elements

Twilight paced back and forth nervously, princess Luna watching her about twenty minutes ago Discord volunteered to go look for Celestia and hasn't been back since

"What if he is betraying us again?"
Rainbow asked
"Now now rainbow he promised he would return remember?"
Fluttershy stated as rainbow rolled her eyes
"I'm positive he will return"
Luna stated just at that moment the door burst open but it wasn't discord it was in fact Celestia
"Sister!"
Luna called running to hug her sister
"Oh Luna I'm glad you and the others are safe"
"And I'm glad you are safe, where did you go?"
Celestia walked over to twilight placing her hoof on her back
"I was trapped at the crystal empire by nightmare moon"
"But how I don't believe she has the magic to do such a thing"
Luna stated
"I know I was just as confused but it seems she is more powerful even without you sister"
Luna looked away
"I do believe this is my fault I..."
"Luna it was never your fault now listen to me while I was at the crystal empire I ran into an old friend of mine"
"Who was it princess?"
Twilight asked
"King Sombra"
"King Sombra!?"
Every pony questioned
"Isn't King Sombra that horrible shadow like pony who tried to take over the empire?"
Rarity asked
"Well yes.."
"Than how could you two have been friends?"
Rainbow asked
"Yeah your like a super duper nice pony an he's an evil shadow type pony!"
Pinkie yelled standing up on two
"I know it's hard to believe but we were indeed friends"
"Tis true but they were not just friends"
Celestia put her hoof to his sisters mouth
"Please sister"
"So what were you then?"
Applejack asked as Celestia turned away from the ponies
"Twilight do you still have the elements?"
She asked changing the subject
"Yes but they are back at my palace"
Then we shall go get them"
And without any words Celestia closed her eyes and teleported every pony to Twilights palace
"Where are they twilight?"
"Just in here"
At that moment discord teleported into the room
"No use I can't find Celestia any..."
But he was cut off when he saw Celestia standing next to twilight
"Oh I guess you found her"
"Thank you for looking discord"
Fluttershy thanked him as the rest of them followed Twilight
"Sister what will we do with the elements even they do not have enough power to put a stop to this war"
"We could at least try"
Twilights horn lit up as a box floated to her
"Here you go princess"
Celestia used her magic to take the elements out of the box
"Come sister we must give this are all"
Luna nodded and followed Celestia twilight and her friends followed
"Stay inside it will be safer"
Luna stated as her and Celestia teleported outside twilight and her friends watched nervously as Celestia and Luna landed in the middle of the battle

Celestia took three of the elements and Luna took the other three they closed their eyes as their horns lit up as they lifted off the ground so far so good Celestia felt as though it was going to work Luna on the other hoof didn't Celestia and Luna both opened their eyes as the elements sent off a huge blast across the field causing ponies to fall from the powerful blast Luna and Celestia were set safely on the ground and waited to see what happened the ponies started to stand up slowly

"Did it work?"
Luna asked
"I hope"
Celestia answered as she bit her lip every pony was up and looking around with confusion
"Maybe it did"
Celestia smiled and raised her hoof about to say something when the ponies started to fight again
"What happened?"
Luna asked as Celestia looked down at he elements
"The elements...failed"
