Sam's POV:
I'm just a normal girl. A girl who goes to school, gets good grades, eats and sleeps. A girl whose life, has no surprises or dangers. Or at least it did. It's funny how one change in routine, one tiny decision: can change your life forever.
It was just an ordinary day that was following the routine perfectly: wake up, get ready, go to school, go home, work, eat, sleep, repeat. Although i had this feeling, like a bitter taste on my tongue, that something strange was going to happen. I coudn't explain it...
"SAM!" My mom called up, "I'm not going to be home tonight! You're on your own, try not to set the house on fire!"
Loving and caring mother at her finest. At least she was sober enough to remember my name this time. After I heard the door slam I slumped down into my chair. What I wouldn't give to change my life. Suddenly, I didn't feel like doing my homework, I was a strait A student, ONE missed homework assignment wouldn't kill me. It was the first warm day of April, wanting to clear my head I decided to go for a walk. This is one decision that did, in fact, change my life.
Sly's POV
I could hear his heart beat getting closer. I padded my way through the forest, skillfully dodging branches and leaves. One gunshot, then two, then more each one missing by at most an inch. I could see street lights in the distance. This was my last chance at survival. Just 10 feet before salvation, a loud bang sounded and a sharp pain started in my right leg. That's when the change was triggered. My bones shaped, snapped and cracked into place. A cry escaped my lips as pain shot through my whole body like a wildfire. My senses calming down, I no longer had the physical edge against my opponent.
I dove through the bushes onto the concrete sidewalk. My bruises protested this action, but it was the only way to escape almost certain death. A shrill cry hurt my still sensitive ears and I looked up to see a beautiful warm eyes looking down at me with concern. That's when everything went black.
Sam's POV
The scream that escaped my lips hurt my throat, but i couldn't stop it, the horrifying scene that had just unfolded before my eyes was horrifying enough for one lifetime. A guy about my age, maybe a little older, had just jumped out of the woods. He was bleeding from his leg and was bruised all over. Oh, i forgot to mention he was half naked except for his boxer shorts. What had happened?
I couldn't just leave him like this, I propped him up against my shoulder and half dragged to my house. My mom probably won't be home for another week if it's anything like the last couple times: so why not?
After I threw him onto the couch, and sat down panting next to him, was when i finally got a good look at him. He was normal height, with short, dark hair and a bit of stubble. He was actually kind of cute.
My stalkerish staring was interrupted by him groaning and turning to his side. That's when i remembered the blood. He probably had a wound that needed to be tended to. I tried to remember all of the different doctor and cop shows that I've watched and how they patched them up. Sprinting to the medicine cabinet I grabbed bandages, gauze, alcohol, and a damp towel. Then I rushed back to his side.
The blood soaked my couch, maybe he had a cut there from running in the woods. Carefully turning him over I gasped. His bruises had already started to disappear. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes, as if this took all of his strength. After that he seemed to realize what had happened.
"Who are you? Where am I?" He said.
"I'm Sam, you're in my house. You kind of jumped out of the woods and onto the sidewalk. Care to explain?"
"Not really," he answered.
"Fair enough," I laughed. "How about you explain to me why you were all beaten up, but now it's like nothing ever happened."
He never answered, something was up and I intended to find out. "Fine, can you at least tell me your name?"
"It's Eddie, but everyone calls me sly."
"Nice to meet you, now rest up I'll take you home in the morning"
Sly's POV
I didn't get why she was being so kind to me. For all she knew I could be a murderer. She literally found me on the streets. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, big brown eyes, and a smile that could light up a room. I couldn't help but stare at her. Suddenly, the door burst open and a tall, thin woman that must of been Sam's mother hobbled in.
"WHAT IS THIS MESS THAT IS ON OUR COUCH? DID YOU DRAG HIM IN FROM THE STREETS! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? SOMETIMES I THINK YOU DON'T THINK AT ALL!" She brought her hand up and striked Sam accross the face with a sound that made me flinch. I shot up instinctively to protect her. The mother's hand came up again for another round, but I grabbed her arm before anything could happen.
Sam got up and rubbed her now red cheek. "That's it! I'm 18 and I can live on my own! You're going to be sad and alone the rest of your life! But I guess that's your choice!" She then dissapeared up the stairs and came down with a backpack. "Come on, I'll take you home now."
She grabbed my arm and dragged me to the door. Her mother's shouts were cut off by the door slamming. I got in the car awkwardly, not knowing what to say.
"I'm sorry you had to see that," she spoke.
"No, I'm sorry I would have never-" she cut me off.
"Don't say sorry, I've been wanting to leave since I was thirteen. You did me a favor. So where do you live so i can take you home?"
