Sly's POV

The car ride home was a long, awkward, and silent one. Usually I am never at a loss for words, but for some reason i didn't want to offend or say anything weird in front of her. I'm never like this, something about her made me nervous.

"So what made you go an hour away from home on foot?" She asked, breaking the silence.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I answered simply, praying that she took that as a hint to leave it alone.

"Try me." She said simply. Damn. I answered her with nothing but silence. Smooth, I know, but I didn't know what to say. She looked at me, with her big brown eyes and something snapped. No I mean something literally snapped. Because something had triggered the change.

I put my head and my palms and tried to fight it. Sweating, panting, and wincing: I must have looked like a complete psychopath. "Stop the car," I breathed.

"I can't, I'm on the highway and people are boxing me in." My senses started to heighten. She honked the horn and I let out a cry of pain. "What's happening? Is it from your injuries? Are you having a seizure or a heart attack? ARE YOU DIEING?!" She rambled. I could hear her heartbeat quickening with her anxiety.

I was holding it in better then usual, until the first bone cracked. I screamed, holding it in is a lot harder then letting it out. Sam honked the horn for people to let her by to no avail. Hopefully she didn't notice one of my arms sticking out the wrong way, that would be such a turn off. Knowing i wouldn't be able to hold it in for much longer, I pulled off my seat belt and threw myself into the backseat.

Once I let the change happen each and every bone snapped into place at the same time. Which basically feels like cracking your knuckles times ten, but instead with your whole body. So yeah, not pleasant. Feeling my nails grow to claws, and my teeth turn to fangs. Horrified if Sam saw. My ears grew up to a point. This always happens at the wrong place, wrong time.

Sam POV

When Sly had his attack, I didn't know what to think. I couldn't do anything but try my hardest to get to the side of the road. But it looked like that wasn't happening anytime soon. I had a feeling that all of the strange things that had happened connected to this. When the strange noises and cries of pain stopped, I risked a glance to the back seat... and nearly drove off the road.

Staring back at me was a bright orange and black fox. How it got there I had no clue, it definatly was not sly, was it? It looked too big for a regular fox though. Almost the size of a wolf. Thats just great, sly is having an attack, there's a super fox in my back seat, I had just run away from home, how could this get any worse.

Apparently someone took that as a challenge when a bullet flew through the windshield. The car swerved, and i screamed the girliest scream i could muster so that maybe they would get the hint it was the wrong car. It didn't seem to work because more and more bullets came flying through until the glass finally shattered. I ducked my head behind the wheel and prayed one didn't hit me or sly.

"OI! IT'S ME YOU WANT RIGHT? WELL COME AND GET ME!" I heard Sly yell at the drivers. Two hands covered mine on the wheel and guided the car along the highway. He pushed my foot down onto the gas pedal. First hour away from home and I'm already in a car chase. Sly swerved one way and my head collided with the door. That's when everything went black.

Sly's POV

Just great. I've got an unconscious Sam in the driver's seat. I'm speeding down the highway at 100 miles per hour. I'm pretty much half changed, half not. We're lucky we haven't been pulled over yet. Having the cops call animal control. Or worse have me locked up in some government facility.
