Chapter 9

KOOTRA'S POV

It was long overdue for me to explain everything. I know the guys were just happy to have me back, but I could tell they were itching to know. I called everyone into the living room for a meeting.

"I know you are all confused as to what happened when I was gone." I began. Looking at all of the concerned faces I willed myself to continue. "Well, here goes nothing. I was in a lab. My senses were dull for some reason, so I wasn't able to pick up if any of the others were there. It looked like they had done there homework and hooked my up to an electric current so I couldn't change." Seamus had out a pen and paper and was now taking notes. I continued anyway. "They started drilling questions, about the location, about Immortal, I obviously didn't give them any answers. They kept me there for a couple weeks, until I built up enough strength to escape. That's when I found you guys." I paused, waiting for any questions that would surely be prominent.

"Dude, we should have known, we should have come for you." Seamus threw his notepad on the ground and put his head in his hands.

"Seamus, you thought I was dead. And you took care of the group while i was gone. I couldn't ask for more." Seamus looked up at me and almost smiled, which I took as a good sign.

"What kind of questions did they ask?" Sly chimed in, curiosity getting the best of him.

"Well, stuff like what is Immortal like, is he acting strange, where are you guys located, how do you turn someone, can you control it, how many are you, etcetera." They nodded Immortal stared at the floor, obviously deep in thought.

"When do you think I was made this? It was obviously triggered with me being turned. But I mean, I don't remember any lab. Was I meant to meet you guys?" We all looked at each other. Did he not remember? Was he just really out of it when it happen. Or did they do something to make him forget. It was obvious it had happened during the first ambush.

"Do you really not remember?" I asked." It was right before Ze was killed, or taken, or whatever.

"Dude, did you get the poptarts?" Immortal questioned as soon as I walked through the door.

"Hell yeah I got the poptarts!" I screamed holding up a box.

"Good, cause I wouldn't have let you in if you didn't." Immortal threatened. "Dude pop these tarts!" I said throwing the fruity goodness into the toaster.

"I don't care about you, or your poptarts! It's midnight, go to bed!" Ze screamed from his room. Sly and Dan peaked their heads out from their rooms. Nova practically jumped over the railing into the kitchen.

"Did you get me a poptart?" Nova pleaded.

"You get a poptart, and you get a poptart, YOU ALL GET POPTARTS!" Immortal screamed from behind his Oprah cardboard cutout. Back then, we could just fool around and have fun. We had all changed since then.

"Dude did you hear that?" I asked.

"Um, no... Dude it was probably just a deer." Immortal reasoned. I grabbed Immortal and pushed him to the ground. Nova Sly and Dan did the same. Gunfire shot through the windows and the glass shattered.

Once it was silent we all slowly stood up. Daring a glance out the window. "Wake Seamus and Ze up, we're getting out of here." That's when a sharp pain went through my chest. The others were already running at me. I looked down to see the sharp end of a glowing knife in my chest. I fell to the floor, unable to move. I couldn't even blink. I heard the others screaming my name.

The hunters rushed into the kitchen. Each and every one of them fighting. We were out numbered, and losing fast. Two of them had grabbed Immortal and injected something into him. Seamus and Ze jumped onto them, desperately trying to save their human friend. One of them turned around and stuck the same knife into Ze. I willed myself to move. It was like I was moving in slow motion, when the rest of the world was moving in fast forward. But it was enough, I made my way over to a stray gun that was lying next to an unconscious hunter.
