I watched Luke's Car pull into the driveway slowly, he seemed to be slightly distracted considering Kennedy was poking his face and chatting happily. She looked like she'd been up for hours, typical Ken waking up at the freaking crack of dawn.
Insane child.
I hugged Luke and Kennedy as they came in the door, Noah quickly scooped Luke up to help him with business stuff. They headed down to the basement while I teased them about their epic bromance, Noah blushed and ignored me but Luke thought it was hilarious for some reason.
Noah and I haven't talked about the kiss yet, in fact I think he's almost avoiding it.
Kennedy and I went up to my room, sitting on the bed with smartie cookies. I'm just that mature.
"So I got in touch with mom, she cried like a baby when she realised who I was, you know, after she was done being pissed me for being a random stranger on her door step." I blurted.
"Wow, is she still all snappy?"
I nodded. "Her new hubby's nice, I guess, his name's Josh and he wants to meet you."
"Why?"
"Something about mom's family being his family, cheesy bull."
"Shame that's nice of him. He doesn't sound so bad to me and if mom's happy then I can't hate him."
I rolled my eyes, "You're way too nice Kennedy."
"Probably."
"He wants you to come stay with them too, I told him it was your choice blah, blah, blah. They, uh, also have a kid together."
"Please don't tell me it's a girl."
"Little boy named Jamie, still feels like a replacement kid to me though and I'm not really impressed."
"Did you meet him?"
"No, told her I didn't want to wake the kid but I was afraid I'd smother him."
"You didn't want to get attached did you?"
I frowned, "No. Whatever, do you wanna drive up, day after tomorrow?"
'So soon?"
"Might as well. They want you to move In right away but I'd rather wait till after you've met Josh and had a day to think about it."
She nodded.
"Nervous?"
"A little. How far away does she stay?"
"When Noah's driving it's about fifteen minutes from here."
She smiled, "So I'll still be close and I can keep going to the same school?"
"Yeah, that reminds me I have to pick up my final certificate next week, It'll officially be over." I grinned.
"So you're out and I have to do my last year alone."
"Oh don't complain you know you love it there."
She shrugged, "Yeah I do. I can't wait for prom." She frowned, "Oh, I probably won't be able to go."
"Kennedy I'll make sure you go, I'll use some of the money I have saved up and mom will probably pay some of it. It's not going to be like it was for me, I only had dad to rely on but you'll have me, mom, Josh, see lots of people."
"Luke." She tacked on.
"Luke? Tell me you're not crushing on that kid."
She stuck her tongue out at me and blushed, "He's been really nice, he even checks up on me all the time to make sure I'm okay. It's nice having someone other than you chasing me around and being all worried."
"Hmm, you know I'll skin Luke if he screws this up."
"There's no 'this' yet, I'm just hoping something might happen."
"Okay, okay. Just saying." I rolled my eyes, "Feel like helping me make lunch?"
"Sure, Look at you all woman of the house and everything."
"Shut it."
Kennedy helped me make a massive pile of sandwiches for lunch knowing the boys would eat like they've got seven stomachs. I still wonder how Noah affords all the crap he buys, this is a nineteen year old who owns a two story house near the pier filled with decent furniture and some pretty nice art. He only buys A grade foods and 200 threat count sheets, freaking hotel style bedding. Noah told me that before I moved in he used too have food delivered for every meal except breakfast, the guy lived on subway, pizza, Chinese and burgers.
That can't be cheap.
When the boys were done eating they cleared away the plates and loaded the dish washer, Luke said he'd take Kennedy home so they left. Kennedy looked a little too happy when Luke slung an arm over her shoulder.
"So, what do you wanna do tonight, I haven't got work stuff so we can hang out if you want."
"We could catch a movie?"
''Sounds fun although I'm a little tired, do you mind if we stay in? I'll make you dinner for once.''
'I like the sound of that.''
He grinned and suddenly scouped me up in his arms carring me to the kitchen where he dumped me on a counter so I sat comfortably and watched as Noah pulled ingredients from the fridge.
''Steak with Roast potatos and creamed corn sound okay?''
'Sounds great."I grinned as he placed the steaks in a heated pan and prepped the potatos to go in the oven.
He had a small smile constantly plastered on his face as he cooked.
"Noah? Sure I can't help with anything over there?"
"You just relax and let me cook for you, beautiful. "
I blushed and watched him cook our food, enjoying the yummy smells wafting up from it.
Noah is a brilliant cook. Seriously. I dont understand why he doesn't cook more ofter went he produces food like this, its way better than I thought it would be. I thought I'd have to choak down charred steak and pretend it was good but he made an amazing meal.
When we were done eating Noah washed the dishes while chatting to me about random happy things, how he missed some old friends, our bad economy and even the weather. I pointed out that the sun looks like a poached egg.
Noah ran me a lovely bubble bath and grinned like a proud little boy when I thanked him, he even fetched my pajamas for me so I wouldn't have to walk back to my room.
"You're amazing Noah, really, thanks."
"Enjoy your bath." He leaned forward hesitantly and kissed my cheek.
I smiled and slipped an arm around the back of his neck pulling him back to me and kissing his lips.
"I like you, you silly boy."
"I like you too..." He seemed surprised at my words.
"I'm gonna have my bath now..."
"Oh! Right, right. Bye." He quickly left the bathroom closing the still broken door and I heard his retreating footsteps as he headed to his room, poor adorable guy.
I slipped into my amazing warm bath and relaxed closing my eyes, I really like him.
I think I'm going to ask Noah whats in the locked basement tomorrow...
