I woke up to a purplish-blue eye but thankfully the swelling was minimal, my split lip didn't look too bad and I was glad it was almost unnoticeable after I painfully applied dark red lipstick to help hide it. I don't have any concealer because it's really expensive and I'm saving my allowance for when I escape this place, every little bit helps.
I pulled on black skinny jeans, a white vest and a long sleeve black hoodie to hide the bruises on my arm. I can put the hood up most of the day to hide my eye, in class I'll have to try to use my hair to hide it.
Kennedy was waiting for me outside with a worried look on her face dressed in simple blue jeans and a band shirt, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine Ken, don't worry about me. Why are you still here?"
"I can't help worry and I told my friend Ally come by a little later, you're getting a lift with us okay?"
"I'm fine, really."
"Please just let me do this." She gave me the big worried eyes.
"Fine... Thanks."
Ally turned out to be a bubbly blonde with red convertible and fascia purse; she really wasn't that bad once you got used to her incessant babble about boys and how hard school is. She dropped us off in front of school and went to find a parking with promises to find Ken at lunch.
The school day went by relatively uneventfully with my teacher thankfully not saying anything about the hood I kept up... until I got to Biology and my teacher called me out, "Alexis would you like to remove the hood and pay attention to my lesson."
I frowned and pulled down the hood wordlessly. The girl next to me looked shocked and I quickly looked down so I didn't have to see my class mates' expressions. Not that I care what they think of me, I just hate the looks of concern.
Luckily Biology was my last class so as soon as the bell went I was first out of the class and down the hall as quickly as I could make it. I was near the exit when I remembered my cellphone was still in my locker after it went flat earlier, damn, I have to go back for it.
I grabbed the phone and shut my locker only to run into a tall blonde girl, "Trying a new look?"
"What?" I frowned.
"Purple really isn't your color? Did you piss someone off stick in the mud?"
I rolled my eyes and tried to walk around her but she stepped to the side and stopped me, "Where do you think you're going?"
"Home, now move it." By now a few people were gathering around us.
"I'm still taking to you."
"Well I'm done talking to you." I tried to walk away again but she grabbed my arm, exactly where the bruises were.
I acted on instinct and shoved her away... I didn't mean to push her so hard but she slipped backwards and smacked her head against the lockers. Damn it.
