Kennedy got her friend to give me a ride to school again this morning, I appreciate her trying to make my life a little easier but I can't stand trying to make polite conversation with her friends. I can't pretend to be all happy, like everything's okay... like I don't have a drunk father who can't tell the difference between his daughters and a punching bag.

My left eye is still bruised, my split lip is healing nicely though. Detention today should be interesting... by that I mean I'm going to sleep straight through it. I really hope that guy isn't in detention again, I don't even know his name and honestly I don't want to have anything to do with him. He seems like the type to only bring trouble and I have enough of that.

"Look who's back, planning on running away from me again?" Shoot. I have the worst luck, he's here.

"I'm obviously not here by choice."

He chuckled.

"Whatever." I slumped down in a chair frowned as the teacher poked his head in, saw there were three of us scattered around the room and left locking the door. The boy in the back didn't even look up.

"So, wanna have some fun?"

"No." I glared.

"Come on stop being so stuck up."

I huffed and pulled my hood closer over my face, making sure the damage was still hidden, "What will it take to get you to leave me alone?"

"Play a game with me. We each get to ask ten questions and you have to answer honestly."

"Make it four and I'll play."

"You're so boring." I glared at him, "Fine, fine, first question... What's your name?"

"Alex, short for Alexis." I paused, "Who were those guys with you that night?"

"My friends, I guess you could call us a gang."

"Oh."

"My turn, What were you doing out there alone?"

"I wanted to get out of my house, go for a walk and pretend I was someone else for a while. Doesn't everyone want that?"

"I suppose... by the way that counts as a question."

"Asshole." I muttered but only got a chuckle in response.

"Who's the redhead you hang around with?"

I frowned, I don't want him around her, "My little sister, Kennedy."

He nodded, "Your turn."

"What's your name."

"Noah. What're you hiding under that hood?"

His question took me by surprise and I turned away further. "Nothing."

"I thought we were telling the truth?"

"You promised you'd leave me alone right?" I asked knowing he's count it as a question.

"Yes, after you tell me what you're hiding."

I smiled grimly, "Better keep your promise."

I turned towards him and pulled back the hood almost cringing at the look of shock that crossed his face before he composed himself and frowned.

"Who did that to you?"

"No one you know now keep your promise and leave me alone."

His fist slamming into the table caught me by surprise and the boy in the back as instantly standing next to him, "Calm down Noah."

"Fuck off Joe."

He just smiled and sat between us giving me a friendly wave.

I did the smart thing and put my head on the desk to get some well-deserved sleep. I mean a girl always deserves her beauty sleep especially with the way the way my face looks right now.

"Hey, Wake up Hunter. Teacher's coming."

I sat up and rubbed my eyes with a frown. Stupid teacher coming and interrupting my sleepy time... wait I want to leave here not stick around and sleep. The teacher unlocked the door and poked his head in looking bored, "Times up."

I was immediately up and heading towards the door but something stopped me-Noah's arm wrapped around my waist as his other hand grabbed my wrist before my feeble attempt to punch him even got close to that smug face.

"Ah ah ah, not so fast."

"Let me go."

"Who gave you that bruise?" He released my wrist only to grab my chin, forcing me to look him in the eye.

"Why the hell would you care?"

He frowned, "I don't. I just think it's not fair to hurt weak girls."

"Weak? I'll show you weak." My knee connected with his crotch, a string of swear words left his mouth and I ran.

Sprinting down the corridor and through the school gates I didn't look back until I reached the street, no one seemed to be following me so I walked home as quickly as I could. That was probably a very stupid move and I'm lucky no teachers saw me.

Kennedy was waiting for me with pizza and a smile on her face as I walked in the door, she looked so relaxed I had to know our father wasn't around.

"Where'd you get the money for pizza?" I frowned, I told her we had to save every cent. I want to get out of here.

"Relax, it was on the counter. I think dad left it."

"Okay, thanks."

"How's your face?" she asked softly.

"Sore." I blurted and backtracked at her guilty expression, "But It feels a lot better."

"Do you think this will ever stop?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm going to save up and get us out of here."

She smiled that smile you give a person when you don't believe them but are trying not to hurt their feelings.
