More Than I Thought

- Alex POV -

It was just me and Jaden watching a movie in the family room. It was my last week in California.

"Alex, can I ask you a serious question?" Jaden asked.

" yeah, of course. " I answered.

" Do you love me. " he questioned.

" um, " I got interrupted.

" Wait, that's too fast, " he started, " Okay. Do you like me as a friend. "

" Yes. " I answered.

" Do you love me as a friend. "

" Yes. " I replied.

" Do you have deeper feelings for me other than a friend. "

" Yes, really deep actually. " I pointed out.

" Okay, do you like me as a boyfriend. "

" Yes. " I said again.

" Do you love me as a boyfriend. "

I answered yes again.

" Okay, now here's the really serious question. Are you in love with me. "

I hesitated for a quick moment.

Then when I was about to answer he interrupted, " It's okay, if you're only in like with me. Can you be in like with someone. I know it's a serious question and we're only 14 but-"

" I'm in love with you Jaden. And I have been since you first kissed me on the ferris wheel. " I admitted.

" yeah? "

" yeah. " I said.

Then he brought me into a long passionate kiss.

" So Alex, will you go out with me. " He asked.

" no, " I said.

" Wait, you're kidding right? " He asked softly.

" nope, I'm dead serious. "

" but you said you were in love with me. " he pointed out.

" and I am. But I'm not going to date you for a week than leave you. You don't deserve that. " I replied.

" It doesn't matter I love you. " he kept on.

" you don't understand. I am leaving. And it's not just like I'm going to Oceanside, California. I'm going back to Chicago. And how many times do you go to Chicago? If you're lucky, you're never going to see me again. " I said.

" I'll make extra trips to Chicago. And I don't need luck with you Alex. I just need you. " he replied.

" no, I don't want you sticking to me and not going on with your life. Find someone else who can give you all of them. "

" Alex, we met for a reason. "

" and I'm leaving for a reason. " I said, " please just accept that and try to move on. Please. "

" I can't promise anything. " He admitted.

" Just try okay. I don't want you hanging on to the past, " I said, " you have your life to live and I have mine. Holding on to the past won't help us in the future. "

" I wish we could be together. " he said.

" I know. Me too. " I replied.

His phone rang.

" Alright. Alright, " he was speaking to his mom probably. " Okay, I'll see you at home. " he sighed, " I love you too mom. "

He hung up the phone and said, " I gotta go home. We're having some family meeting or something. "

" Alright, bye Jaden. " I said.

" bye Alex. " He kissed me goodbye.

I walked him out and Justin and Jula came inside.

"What do you want for dinner kiddo. " Jula asked.

I laughed and told her, "I'm actually pretty tired. So I am gonna go to sleep. "

" Alright, love you. " she said.

" love you too. Night. "

I walked upstairs and I heard their goodnights. But I wasn't tired, I just needed to cry.

I fell asleep crying. I love Jaden more than I thought.
