Previously in Survival of the Fittest:
"Are we good now?" I say hopefully. She gives a small smile and then looks at my lips and then back at my eyes. I look into her eyes and watch as she leans towards my lips. Our lips are about to touch when she says, "Nope." And vamps away. I roll my eyes and shake my head with a smile on my face.

Louis' POV
I finally look up at all of them. Everyone I let down. The lads, Tom, and...Eleanor. Tears stream uncontrollably down my face as I make up my mind. "I'm sorry." I say. Then I push Harry in Eleanor's direction, hoping she catches him and turn around sprinting very fast towards the woods without a second glance. "Louis!" Everyone yells behind me. Footsteps take off behind me. "Stay together!" The person who I know now is Liam calls off running after me.
"Louis!" He yells while running to catch up. "Louis! Stop, come back!" He pleads. He's so close behind me that I feel his finger tips brush the back of my jacket when suddenly, there's a loud bang bang bang! The sound pushes me to run faster and I look back briefly to see Liam on the floor, but I don't stop as I disappear into the woods.
It feels as if I've been running forever. By the time I stop by a tree to catch my breath, it's already dark. I've killed a few walkers already, but now it's dark and hard to see. The sound of a car rumbling is heard off in the distance. I look towards the sound, but freeze as I hear some growls coming close. The bark from the tree scrapes my back as I back up into it, which gives me an idea. I look up, surveying the big tree and its branches and I start climbing up until I reach a good cluster of sturdy branches which I rest on and start dozing off.

The next day...

"Louis, I hate you!" Eleanor yells me with tears streaming down. "I can't believe I ever loved someone like you! Thank God your family is dead; they don't have to see the monster you've become! You're worse than the walkers!" "Eleanor?" I say, my heart breaking. "Leave and never come back!" She spits. She turns around and starts to run away, but a walker grabs her from behind a tree and takes a huge bite on her arm. "ELEANOR!!! ELEANOR NO!" I try to run to her, but my feet don't move. She looks at me and says weakly, "I hate you." Then the walker bites her neck.
"NOOOO!" I yell as my eyes open. I'm so startled that I fall out of my makeshift tree bed and fall onto the hard ground with a loud THUD! "UGHH!" I groan, cradling my now probably bruised left arm. I try stretching my arm, but searing pain stops me. "Guess it's more than bruised then." I say out loud. I stand up, still shaking from the nightmare. I take a deep breath to calm myself when suddenly, my stomach growls loudly. "Ugh, man I'm hungry." I say to myself as I survey my surroundings while cradling my left arm to my chest.
My surveying is interrupted by a sudden growl and a tug on the back of my jacket. I sharply turn around to see a walker and quickly pull out my knife to stab it in the head with my right arm. I watch as it falls to the ground at my feet, but then look up as more growls start coming towards me. They must have heard me fall and make noise! I gather all of my things quickly and start running from the growls.
Everything is a blur as I run. The trees, the plants, the walkers. At one point I'm pretty sure I ran past a huge white animal that looked like a huge dog, but I didn't stop and check. Eventually I heard chatter up ahead. I stopped and hid behind a tree and observed. About a few yards away was a huge makeshift wall that had huge tires around it. On top of the wall were two people, a man and a woman who were walking around, observing with sniper guns in their hands. Maybe they'll let me stay with them! After all, I'm better off here than with the lads or El. I make up my mind and decide to approach the wall, but before I do, I take out the small revolver in my belt and bury it behind the tree, carving a small "L" on the tree just in case this place isn't what it seems. I take a deep breath and then leave the tree and walk to the wall.
"Hey! Excuse m-WOAH WOAH EASY I'M NOT A WALKER!" I say as the two people up top get startled by me and point their guns at me. I hold my hands up, holding the shotgun sideways high in the air so it isn't threatening. "Who goes there?" The man calls out, still pointing his gun. A sudden light blinds me as it hits my face. "Ouch, watch where you point that!" I sass. "Who are you?" The guy asks again. "Uhm my names Louis and I was wondering if you had any extra food to share? I'm starving!" The man looks towards the woman who says something back too quiet for my ears. "Who else is with you?" The man asks. "No one. I left them." The man nods to the woman who turns around and tells someone on the other side to open up. A door sized piece of scrap metal is removed from the bottom left corner of the wall and a man in a hat holding a baseball bat comes out.
"You alright kid?" He asks. "Yeah. Just a bit hungry and tired from running." I answer. "Where's your shelter?" He asks. "Well, the most recent one was a tree, which I accidentally fell from and hurt my arm" I reply, showing him my throbbing left arm. He looks at it and winces. "You're not from the prison are you?" He asks. My face scrunches up in utter confusion. "Prison? What prison? I'm not a criminal! I'm not even from this country!" I say. "Alright, calm down. Come with me, we can fix up that arm for you and give you a place to stay." He says. "Really? Oh thank you!" I say smiling. "That is, if he allows it." He says. "He? Who's that?" I ask. "Guess you'll find out. Now come on, I'll take you to him." He says. I nod and follow him through the hold in the wall.
I watch him move the metal sheet back in place and turn around to see a small town before me. "Woah." I say out loud. "Pretty impressive isn't it?" A new voice calls out from my left. I turn and see a tall man with an eyepatch watching me. "Hello, I'm the Governor and I'm in charge here." He says walking up to me and shaking my hand. He looks to the guy behind me in the hat holding the bat, "I'll take it from here Martinez." He says, dismissing him. Martinez I guess, nods and walks off. "What's your name kid?" The Governor asks. "Louis. Louis Tomlinson." I say. His eyebrows raise. "Aren't you in that one boy band? One Direction?" He asks. I wince on the inside thinking about the band. "Yeah." I say quietly, looking down at the floor. "My daughter was a huge fan of you guys." He explains. I simply nod, still facing the ground.
As if sensing my discomfort, he clears his throat. "Well, I heard everything from the wall. Do you have any weapons on you other than that gun? We put them in inventory here because folks here don't take too lightly seeing people holding them easily. Hope you understand." He says holding his hand out. I nod handing over the gun. "I mean I have this too." I say showing him the pocketknife. "Well, as long as you don't hurt anyone with it, you can keep the knife." He says. "Thanks." I reply, stowing the knife away back in my shoe. I think about my revolver quickly, but push away the thought as the Governor observes me. "Well, that arm looks like it has seen better days, let's get you to the infirmary." He says gesturing toward my left arm. I nod and follow his lead. "What is this place?" I ask as I see people walking around acting as if it isn't the apocalypse and just a regular day in town. "Oh yeah, sorry about that, welcome to Woodbury!" The Governor says. "It's a small town I helped to build to help people find sanctuary in this messed up world." He explains.
I listen with fascination as he keeps talking about this town until someone runs in me, hurting my arm which makes me groan in pain. "Oh man, I'm so sorry about t-Lou?" The person says with confusion. Recognizing the accented voice, I look up and see a pale boy with an eyebrow piercing and bright red hair. "Michael?!" I say. "You guys know each other?" The Governor asks. "Oh my God it is you!" Michael exclaims, ignoring the Governor and hugs me tightly, causing me to groan in pain again. "Whoops, sorry man. HEY GUYS! COME OVER! LOOK WHO'S HERE!" He shouts behind him. A lot of noise follows as three figures come into view, each seemingly play fighting with the other. "What Mikey? Why are you-Louis?" The boy with long floppy dirty blond hair says as he sees me. Ashton. "Tommo?" The one with black hair and blonde highlights says. Calum. "Louis the Tommo Tomlinson?" The boy with quiffed blonde hair and a lip ring says as he says me. Luke. "Hi lads!" I say to them. All of them start running towards me and hugs me which doesn't help with the throbbing pain in my arm. I guess this is the second time I've discovered 5 Seconds of Summer.
