Previously in Survival of the Fittest:

Lia's POV:

"Well Rick, tell me, have you ever heard stories about the creatures that go bump in the night?" "The hell ya talking about?" Daryl asks. "Well there really is no easy way to say this." I turn, addressing the entire group, "Do you believe in vampires?"

Lia's POV:

I tried to hold in my laughter as I observed the whole "Da fuck?!" faces that the whole group had on. "Excuse me?" Carol, the woman with the very short hair said. "You heard me, do you or do you not?" I answered back. "How is this relevant?" Rick questions. "It's actually very relevant because I am a vampire." I finally reveal. Everyone is quite for a few seconds until Daryl breaks the silence by snorting and says sarcastically, "Yeah, and I'm a damn popstar."<---- 1d reference! ;)

"I did used to hear weird stories about vampires from my cousins before..." Lori, Rick's wife says quietly. "Oh come on! Ye don't actually believe this bullshit do ya?!" Daryl exclaims to Rick. "At this point, I don't even care whether she's a damn werwolf too or just a liar. All I want is a place to stay." Rick says firmly. "Well, actually..." I start. "Oh now what?!" Daryl interrupts. I glare at him and say, "I'm actually a tribrid. I'm a vampire, werwolf and a witch.." "Bullshit!" Daryl replies. The group looks from me to Daryl. My smile fades and my voice lowers as I say, "Would you like me to prove it to you?"

I don't wait for his reply as I vamp speed towards him and end up right behind him. Everyone gasps. He turns around and I feel my eyes darkening, the veins showing on my face and my fangs protruding from my mouth. I growl and pin his wrists together with one hand and push his head to the side with the other and bring my fangs closer to his neck as he struggles in my tight grip. Just before my fangs were an inch away from his neck, I stop and say, "Believe me now??" And I push him away, my veins and fangs leaving and my eyes turning back to their natural color. Daryl backs off and I chant a spell that makes a ring of fire surround him, but before any of them can react, I quickly put it out with another spell. I stand there and watch as Daryl catches his breath. The group eyes me fearfully.

"Monster!" Carol squeals. I roll my eyes at her and walk back to Rick who has a hint of fear in his eyes, but still stands bravely. "Forgive me for my rudeness, but I just wanted you to know of my capabilities. I figured it would be better for you all to know about me now than later." I say truthfully. He nods. "I think we all believe you now." Hershel, the old man tells me with a hint of sadness in his eyes. "Especially Daryl!" Glenn, the Asian man says. Daryl glares at Glenn and then looks away. "I'm sorry if I have frightened you all, I can understand if you don't want to stay here, but my best wishes to you on the outside." I say., "Leave the way you came in." I turn around and start my way back up the stairs. "Wait!" Rick calls. I smile to myself, but wipe it of into a curious face as I turn to face them.

"Yes?" I ask. Rick exchanges glances with the group and they all come to a silent understanding. "We believe what you are. We don't exactly understand it, but we believe you. Perhaps we can talk it all through if you let us stay here?" Rick asks hopefully. I think to myself before answering, "Fine, but I have a proposition for you." "Anything!" Rick says eagerly. "I can provide you with protection. Since the rate of humans have gone down, this world will be crawling with vampires and werwolves who want to rip your throats out. I can guard against them. They won't be able to get past my shields. I can also help you clear out cell blocks for your living quarters. I will help you survive. I only ask for two things in return." "What are they?" Rick asks.

"I assume you all know what vampires need to survive. I need blood. Fresh human blood. I will only take a little and do it as painlessly as possible. I swear I will not feed on Lori, Carl, or Hershel since that would be just cruel. There are plants that grow just outside the doors called vervain and wolfsbane. Vervain is harmful to a vampire while wolfsbane is harmful to a werwolf. You can burn me with those if you feel I am putting you in danger and the vervain also helps to fight off compulsion aka mind control." I tell him. The group's faces pale and turns to Rick. "And the second?" Rick asks quietly perhaps thinking I might tell him something sinister. "Your trust/friendship." I say honestly. Rick turns to look at Hershel who looks me in the eye and sees that I'm speaking the truth. Hershel nods to Rick. Rick sighs and looks back to me. We walks over to me and holds out his hand with a small smile on his face. "You've got yourself a deal Ms. Petrova." he says. I smile and shake his hand.
