Two updates is one day?? SAY WHAAAAAAAT?! :D Let's get into it shall we? Anyways, this scene is also from TWD season 2 episode 12, so If you wanna see how this scene was done, watch the episode, or I'll just post the Youtube video of it on the side!

Previously in Survival of the Fittest:

Shane's POV:

I gotta do this. For Lori, Carl and the baby. It's decided, I'm going to kill him. I'm going to kill Rick Grimes.

Daryl's POV:

Glenn and I continue walking around, searching for this mysterious armed young man. I shine my flashlight towards the ground trying to track footprints. "We're just back to square one." Glenn says after a while. "If you're gonna do a thing, you might as well do it right." I reply back. I shine the flashlight towards the right and see some footprints. "There's two sets of tracks right here. Shane must've followed him a lot longer than he said." I tell him. I point the light up at a tree. "There's fresh blood on this tree. There's more tracks." I squint my eyes and say, "Looks like they're walking in tandem." I thought Shane was jumped by this guy? How could there be two sets of footsteps going the same way and both be fresh? Sorry, my redneck is coming out.

Glenn bumps into me, "Sorry." he says quietly. I continue on and see something on the ground. "Yeah, there was a little dust up right here." "What do you mean?" he asks. "I mean something went down." "It's getting weird." Glenn says nervously. The sound of leaves crunching hits our ears. We hide behind trees as the sound of crunching footsteps and and moaning gets closer and closer. We turn and a walker that used to be a young man grabs Glenn. I tackle him and hold him down as Glenn gets a knife and stabs it in the head. "Nice." I say thanking him. He nods and we just look down at the body that suprisingly has no walker bites or scratches on it anywhere.

Rick's POV:

I've been following Shane for almost twenty minutes now. He keeps stopping to look at me every few minutes. I can't read the expression in his face, but something in him has changed. I can see it in his eyes. I watch him cautiously. "Does this way feel right?" I finally speak up. He stops, turns to me and says, "As right as any." "Snatched your gun, huh?" "Yeah, it's my favorite piece too." He says with not much emotion in his voice. "Gonna wish he'd--wish he'd killed me when I find his sorry ass." he finishes while looking at me, giving me an uneasy feeling. "Go on." he motions with his head. I nod and walk past him, feeling his lingering stare on me.

Shane and I finally get out of the woods and enter a large open field. "You say he got you with a rock?" I say. "That's what I said." he says quietly from behind me. I realize something and say, "Inside the shed? 'Cause that door was shut when T-Dog (a survivor staying with us) rolled up." "I saw that too." He stops walking. "Must've slipped through the rafters in the roof." It finally hits me. Why I was having a bad omen today. Why Shane's story didn't add up. There never was any young man that beat Shane up. He broke his own nose. Explains his bloody knuckles. Shane, my best friend, my brother from another mother, my wing man brought me to this isolated field to kill me.

I stop walking and put my gun in the holster on my side. "So this is where you planned to do it?" I say not facing him yet. "It's a good place as any." He simply replies. "At least have the balls to call this what it is," I turn facing him, "Murder." We start circling around eachother. "You really believe if you walk back onto that farm alone-- - No me, no young man," "I want you to hush up." He tries interrupting me. "You really believe they're gonna buy whatever BULLSHIT story you cook up?" I ask incredulously. "That's just it. It ain't no story." We continue circling. "I saw that prisoner shoot you down." he says referring to the criminal who shot me before all this happened sending me in that damn coma. He continues, "I ran after him. I snapped his neck. It ain't gonna be easy, but Lori and Carl. They'll get over you. They done it before. They just gonna have to." He says and points a gun at my face.

"Why? Why now? I thought we worked this all out." I question him. He starts to laugh, "What you think? We just gonna forget about it all? We gonna ride off into the sunset together?" "You're gonna kill me in cold blood?" I retort back. "Screw my wife? Have my children-- my children-- call you daddy? Is that what you want? That life won't be worth a damn." I try reasoning with him, "I know you. You won't be able to live with this." He lowers his guns and takes a few steps towards me. "What you know about what I can live with? You got no idea what I can live with, what I live with! You wanna talk about what I can do, Rick? How about what you can do? Here I am." he finishes and tucks his gun into his waistband. He spreads hs arms out waiting for a reaction out of me. "Come on, man. Raise your gun."

"No. No, I will not." I say firmly. "What happened, Rick? I thought you weren't the good guy anymore. Ain't that what you said? Even right here, right now, you ain't gonna fight for 'em? He taunts me and continues, "I'm a better father than you, Rick. I'm better for Lori than you, man. It's 'cause I'm a better man than you, Rick. 'Cause I can be here and I'll fight for it. You come back here and you just destroy everything! You got a broken woman. You got a weak boy. You ain't got the first clue on how to fix it." He says, every word hurting me like a stab to the stomach. He points his gun at me again, "Raise your gun!" "You're gonna have to kill an unarmed man." I tell him. I put my hands up and carefully and slowly reach for my gun. "Watch my hand. Nice and easy." He watches me with a feral look in his eyes. "Easy does it." I say.  I raise the gun up butt facing him. "Now listen to me, Shane. There is still a way back from this. Nothing has happened here. We're gonna lay down our guns and we're gonna walk back to the farm Together." I plead with him. "Back to Lori. Back to Carl. Put this all behind us." I approach him slowly, getting closer and closer.

Everthing I'm telling him is a lie. There's no way either of us can forget what has happened now. There's no way we can live together, knowing he tried to kill me so he could have MY wife and MY kids all to himself. My best friend tried to kill me. There's no coming back from that now. He smirks gruesomely and tries to grab my gun. My sheriff instincts kick in.

I reach into my back pocket and whip out my knife and sink it into his stomach quickly. He pulls the trigger of his gun, but misses me by inches. His shot ringing out. I bring him to the ground never letting go of him. Blood spurts from his mouth. "Damn you for making me do this, Shane!" I yell in his face, "This was you, not me! You did this to us! This was you, not me-- not me! Not me!" I say crying while trying to convince him in his last seconds and myself of this. The tears flowing freely from my hand, I hold Shane's hands as I watch him spurt more blood from his mouth and take his last few breaths. I watch as my friend, my brother, my collegue, my partner, turns his head to the side, takes his last breath and dies. I start sobbing and yelling looking around saying incoherent words.

A few hours later...

A few hours pass and my eyes are finally rid of all of my tears. I pace around the body just staring at the corpse of the man who I thought I could trust, only to be betrayed by him in the end. I rub the back of my head anxiously. I crouch down and look around. "Dad?!" I hear a voice ring out from behind me. FUCK. "Carl." I say and turn around to see my boy looking horrified at me sitting near to my dead best friend. "You know you should be back home with mom." I say walking closer towards him. He then does something that breaks my heart completely.

My son, my own flesh and blood, points his gun at me. I hear a crunching sound  behind me, but I ignore it trying to plead with my son. "Just-- just put the-- Put the gun down." I tell him. I raise my hands and try to approach him. "It's not what it seems. Please." I plead with him my voice breaking. The crunching sound gets closer behind me. Tears flow from both of our eyes and his hands shake as he puts his finger on the trigger and shoots.....behind me. I turn around to see a zombified Shane only a few feet behind me get shot in the head and fall to the ground.

NOOOOOO! SHANEEEE! I'll admit, I thought he was a total dick in the show, but I did get emotional when I saw this scene. One question though, Shane died from Rick's knife right? So how did he turn into a walker if the only way to turn is if you get bitten or scratched?? Does this have anything to do with the thing Dr. Jenner whispered in Rick's ear that he needs to tell the group?? :O If you watch the show then no spoilers! ;) If you wanna see how this scene was done in the show, watch the YouTube video to the right! It has the scenes and explanation behind it. Also, picture of zombie Shane on the side too! Like dayuuummm look at dat walker! #superhot ;)
