Real quick author's note: historically inaccurate events to occur. Please do note, there really was a Mughal emperor in India historically named Akbar The Great. He did get married to a Hindu princess from Rajput, but there is no account that her name was really Jodhaa. He did however actually get married to his hindu wife on February 6, 1562. I am shaping my story loosely around a Bollywood movie made about Akbar and his hindu wife called "Jodhaa Akbar" because the celebrity who plays Aurelia was in that movie anyways, and well the dude who plays Akbar is just drop dead hot ;) SOme things are different. Gif of a scene from the movie on the right and the trailer, I highly recommend this movie btw, even if you're not Indian, it's really good! Don't worry, the trailer has subtitles! :) P.S., made a change to the chapter before this one, might want to reread the chapter labelled "Daryl Dixon, Redneck, BadAss, Baby-Namer."

Previously in Survival of the Fittest:

Lia's POV:

The mood turns depressing immediately. Daryl, looking to change it looks back at the baby feeding. "Yeah, you like that?" He asks softly, "Lil' Ass Kicker? Right? What, am I right?" He says smiling at all of us making us laugh. "Lil Ass Kicker, You like that huh? You like that sweetheart?" He coos at the baby. I turn away from the group and wipe away at tears I didn't realize were falling down my face, tears for a reasons that only a mother like I used to be would truly understand.

Lia's POV:

I walk up the stairs and head towards the infirmary of the prison, taking down two walkers by simply grabbing them by the back of their head and slamming them head first at the walls with my super strength, making their skulls explode and their brains and rotten blood leak out and drop them on the ground and continue walking. I finally make it inside the infirmary and sit down at the first bed I see and look down at my folded hands that are placed in my lap, not even turning when I hear a heartbeat with a matching pair of footsteps slowly approaching. Daryl.

He comes to a stop, seeing me seated at the bed, then walks towards me and takes a seat next to me. "Are ye alrigh?" He asks softly. I don't respond. "Look, if I did somethin to offend ye by asking bout yer past then I'm sorry--" "Daryl." I cut him off, finally looking at him. "You have done nothing wrong. It's just I have never told anyone about me as in the real Aurelia Petrova." "Ye don have to if ye don wanna." he says. "No. I need to tell someone. I have kept my emotions bottled up for too long now. Many have only assumed about the past, but I want you to learn the truth. All of it. If you want to know why I am like this, you need to know everything. Are you willing?" I ask him desperately. "Yer not gonna bite me or nothin righ?" he asks with mock fear. I smile slightly and shake my head. "Well alrigh then." He says smiling and scoots closer to me. "Close your eyes and just relax." I instruct. He obeys and I move even closer to him. I take a deep breath and then place my hands on both sides of his head. "Open your mind to me....."

Flashback: Third person's POV:

6 February, 1562 Rajasthan, India

The great Mughal Emperor (third of the Mughal Dynasty), a Muslim, Abu'l-Fath Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar, who would later be known as Akbar The Great, is getting married today to a Hindu princess of Amer, Rajasthan, Jodhaa or her Bulgarian name Aurelia Petrova. Author's note: for the purpose of this story, Aurelia's Bulgarian mother (Katherina Petrova's aunt) got married to an Indian king (relations with other contemporary kingdoms and well Aurelia's dad thought her mom was hot ;). Aurelia's Indian name is Jodhaa. P.S. Aurelia has a brother too named Sujamal who was away at battle during all of this. Akbar who is looking to control yet unite all of North India as one, wishes to rule over Amer. Raja (King) Barmal, (Aurelia's father) who is the ruler of Amer, is willing to let Akbar take Amer under his wing as long he gets married to his daughter. His daughter is smart, beautiful, and can speak not only Hindi, but Bulgarian and English as well. She is also very passionate about her religion (Hinduism) which makes her unhappy about her upcoming marriage.

Usually when a woman gets married to a man of a different religion, she is forced to convert to his religion, but stubborn as she is, Jodhaa has made Akbar agree to her terms to let her keep practicing her religion in peace. Plus, she has only ever spoken to him once for her requests yet here she is now getting married to him. Akbar was not annoyed by her request, but actually amused and intrigued and impressed by courage of the princess of Amer. The wedding night comes and Akbar attempts to try and talk to his new wife, but Jodhaa wishes not to be touched by him seeing as he has not yet ruled over her heart. Akbar, understanding leaves their wedding bed and decides to sleep somewhere else leaving Jodhaa feeling very grateful towards him.

Months pass as Jodhaa finally starts to accept her feelings for Akbar. The two have been through some fights due to some misunderstandings, but their love has come through. Akbar respects Jodhaa and even participates in her Hindu prayers. He even makes up his own religion called Dīn-i Ilāhī, intending to merge the best elements of the religions of his empire, and thereby reconcile the differences that divided his subjects. The elements were primarily drawn from Islam and Hinduism, but some others were also taken from Christianity, Jainism and Zoroastrianism. Akbar promoted tolerance of other faiths. In fact, not only did he tolerate them, he encouraged debate on philosophical and religious issues. A/N: True story, Akbar really did create that religion. He even lets Aurelia/Jodhaa's handmaiden and best friend named Jupo come to live with her at the palace. They had been friends since childhood and tell eachother everything. Jupo has a very keen eye towards foreign items, especially Irish. ;) Nudge, Nudge, wink, wink. Jupo would later become the very first person Aurelia turns into a vampire and always her best friend. As Akbar's popularity and affection grew in India, stories this grand ruler started to reach the ears of those around the world seeking splendor and adventure.

Back in Akbar's palace, Jodhaa/Aurelia has just shown Akbar the first words she has learned to write in Arabic, his name. Akbar pleased and happy professes his undying love for her and asks if she feels the same way. Jodha/Aurelia is about to respond when the get interupted by Jupo, announcing that a foreign carriage has arrived. Akbar and Jodhaa decide to talk together later, and enter the front of the palace. They see the carriage that steadily approaches. Jodhaa/Aurelia, being able to read, write, and speak in Hindi, Bulgarian, English, and now Arabic, reads the English writing on the carriage to her husband. "Mikaelson."
