I had been friends with George Shelley since..forever!

We grew up in a small town, The houses that we lived in were a bit on the outskirts of town around where all the fields & rivers were.

That was our childhood. Our adventures.

I remember the first time I met George, We were 5 years old. It was when I moved there with my family during summer.

I was outside playing with a small stick that I found, It was at that moment when I noticed the river.

I sat down at the river bank feeling lonely because I had no friends here. They were all gone.

The houses were in quite a private place so I wondered if there would be any children here my age at all! But there was...

I remember flinging the stick across the river hoping it would land the other side but it just hit off the big oak tree and landed back in the water..

It as at that moment when I heard footsteps. I got scared.

I quickly turned my head to find a young boy around my age looking awfully sad as he held his left hand over his knee.

I got up and looked at him.

"Do you have a plaster?" he said sadly...

I shook my head at him and watched as he sadly walked away.

I began to feel a bit sad for him too so I ran after him, Clutching his arm so he would stop walking.

"My mummy has some plasters" I say glancing over at my house.

He kept looking at me though.

"Shall I go and get you one?" I say smiling

He nodded, showing a smile back.

I ran over to my house, opening the door quickly and running into the kitchen.

The plasters were in the medicine cabinet that mum kept away from us!

I was just a bit small to reach so I grabbed a chair and struggled my way back over to the cabinet.

I climbed on top and opened it, grabbing my special Barney plasters that were mine.

After I closed the press door, I jumped down and ran to see if that little boy had waited for me. Which he did.

I gave it to him and he put it on his very badly cut knee!

I asked what happened and he said he had slipped and scraped his knee of the gravel on the driveway.

At the moment we introduced ourselves but little did I know that he became my best friend until we were 13 years old...
