Carl's POV
My dad ran into our room out of breath.
"I heard someone screaming," he panted. "What happened?"
"I don't know we were just walking through B Block and she just started running." I said, still in pure disbelief and confusion. "I came into our room and she was on the bed crying. She saw me enter and she shoved herself against the wall and yelled 'get away from me'."
He then went go and sit down next to Lai. She was calm around him, so it had to have been me making her act this way.
"Lainie, sweetie, can you tell me what's wrong?" He asked Lai calmly, but she could barely talk through the tears.
"I... I can't...can't stay here." She said still sobbing uncontrollably.
"What? Of course you can Lainie." Rick said to her, I can tell he was trying to cheer her up. He got off of the bed and Lai laid down on the bed, her crying finally began to cease.
"Keep an eye on her." My dad said as he walked out of the room and down the hall towards the dining room, I think he is going to tell Beth and Carol that Lai probably isn't going to start work in the kitchen just yet.
I looked back over to the bed and saw that Lainie was almost asleep. I walked to the bed and laid down next to her.
1 hour later
I woke up and turned onto my side, Lainie wasn't in the bed.
"Lai?" I said with slight fear in my voice, where has she gone? My dad said to look after her and I didn't. Oh god, it all came into my head now. She told my dad that she had to get out of here, has she run away??
I jumped out of the bed and ran as fast as I could down to my dads room.
"Dad..." I heaved, bending over and resting my hands on my knees. I began panting as he spoke.
"Carl, what happened?" He asked rising from his bed in his own room and walking over to me. My dad stayed in one of the rooms that had been reserved for the full time warrants back when this was a properly functioning prison.
"Lainie," I said through my heavy breaths, then finally going back to my normal breathing.
"She...she's gone." I said, raising my upper body and shrugging my shoulders. I felt tears begin to form in my eyes.
"What do you mean she's gone?" My dad said walking away from me and turning around as he continued to walk towards the back wall, running his hands trough his hair and squeezing his head in attempt to think.
"How could you let this happen?" He said as he turned around, a slight crack in his voice as a tear fell down his cheek.
"I didn't mean for it to!" I defended myself, the tears in my eyes now falling for the ground too. "We were asleep in my bed and I woke up no but an hour later and she was gone."
"Go get Daryl and Glenn," he said. "We're going to look for her."
Lainie's POV
Carl had finally fallen asleep and I slowly rose out of the bed and walked/ran out of the door. I took a hallway that I've never seen before in attempt to escape the prison. I ran as fast as I could and eventually came to a heavy door that I pushed open and saw a thick line of trees in front of me. I was in the back of the prison where there was no one to stop me from hopping the fence. The back side of the prison where there was almost no walkers since they were all drawn towards the front where all drawn to the sound of the other walkers in front.
I ran through the forest until my legs wouldn't carry me any more. I eventually dropped to the ground and rested my back against a thick tree. I reached into my side holster and grabbed the sharp knife.
*trigger warning*
I drug the thin blade across my left arm as blood began to trickle down the side of my wrist, painting the grass red. A tear fell from my eye and the salty liquid burned in the wound. I hated myself for leaving yet I was afraid of its inhabitants.
This continued as the cuts got deeper causing more blood to gush out from the wound, some new cuts reopening cuts from other times. I had just gotten up to my elbow when I started to feel light headed. I dropped the knife and slumped over in the middle of the forest in a pool of my own blood, passed out.
*end trigger warning*
Carl's POV
Me, Rick, Daryl, and Glenn all ran out the front main door of the prison and up to the watch tower my the gates. Glenn climbed up the tower with me following behind as my dad and Daryl stayed on the ground and worked out plans.
"Maggie, has anyone left the prison in the last hour or so?" Glenn asked his wife who answered back.
"No, why? Has anyone left? If so they must have left through the back." She said, a questioning look on her face.
"Lainie has gone missing and we're going to look for her. Me, Carl, Rick, and Daryl." He said as he kissed her goodbye and went down the ladder as I followed behind.
10 minutes later
"Lainie!" I yell not in fear of any walkers hearing since they're all drawn towards the front. There was no response.
We were walking for about five more minutes and we came about a patch of thick trees. I walked past one of the trees and saw her, knocked over onto the ground.
"Lai!" I screamed, grabbing the others attention as I ran over to her on the ground. I looked down at her arm to see that it was covered in dried blood, so was the ground around it. My eyes flicked down to her other arm and saw her knife resting beside her hand.
not much to say here sooooo
Bye loves,
Macy <3
