Lainie's POV

"Ugh, turn that damned alarm clock off." I groaned as I pulled my chest up from the bed and sat up. The annoying noise ceased as Carl rose up in the bed and sat down next to me.

"You seem pretty upset this morning. What's wrong?" He asked, getting up from the bed and walking over to the desk where his shirt had been placed. He slid it on as I answered him.

"I just couldn't really sleep last night because I kept hearing these banging sounds from outside." I informed him as I stood up from the bed and walked out the door and made my way down to the bathroom.

After getting dressed I walked back to our cell where Carl was sitting down on the bed, staring down at his knees. I walked over to him and sat down by his side. Wrapping his arm around my back he took in a deep breath and began to talk.

"I remember when you first came here," he began, slightly resting his head on my shoulder. "In my mind, you were this beautiful girl that I was so lucky to room with but she was so out of my league." He laughed, shaking his head.

"I remember when I first came here, I had just escaped Satan himself." I said, almost laughing yet feeling depressed at the same time.

"Well don't worry," Carl said, turning to look into my eyes. "Satan has returned to the fiery pits of hell where he belongs."

2 hours later

I was finishing cleaning up dishes in the kitchen when people started to come into the dining area and sitting down which was odd since none of them had kitchen duty. A couple minutes later, almost all of the group was in the dining area

"Hey Lainie, do you know what's goin' on?" Beth asked, walking up beside me as her eyes trailed over all of the people who had calmly seated themselves at the various tables in the dining area.

"No clue," I said to her, shaking my head just as Rick walked into the room and straight over to me, Beth, and Carol.

"Sorry for not telling you ladies about this before we had everyone come into the dining room but when me and Daryl were our hunting we ran across a small group of two men and a woman. They looked to be in pretty bad condition when it comes to food and weapons but were very smart and seemed helpful to we took them in. We planned on introducing them to everyone, so that's why all of the group is in the dining room." He explained to us, his eyes flowing from mine, to Beth's, to Carol's and back around again. We all have slight nods as he went through his story, showing that we understood what he was saying.

We walked over to the dining area as a group and sat down where the only empty seats were. I found myself sitting next to a woman with, who I assumed was, her baby. The baby was a little boy wrapped in a light orange blanket and wasn't but a year old. To the other side of me was a little girl, about the age of 6. She had messy, dirty blonde curls spewing out from every side of her head. My attention was removed from my surroundings and placed on Rick when he walked in front of all of us and began his talk about the newcomers.

"We have a new addition to our group." He began as two boys, around 16, and a woman who seemed to be in her mid twenties walked out beside him.

"This," he said, motioning to the taller boy. "Is Jackson. The other boy is Andrew." He informed us and, for some reason, Jackson found that Rick referring to Andrew as "the other boy" was funny so he let out a slight snicker. In response, Andrew sneakily elbowed Jackson in his side.

"And this," Rick began, motioning towards the only lady in the group. "Is Delilah. Me and Daryl found them in the woods and they seemed to be trustworthy people so we decided to bring them in." Rick stated before telling us to all go back to our jobs as normal and walking away from the kitchen and dining area.

I looked up and, to my surprise, Delilah was walking over to the kitchen. Her hair was a wavy dark brown that ended just before it reached her hips. Her face was very oblong with very soft cheek bones and about a medium sized nose.

"Pardon, but, is this where I come for kitchen duty?" She asked; pointing at a small piece of paper that she held onto in her hand.

"Yes ma'am." Beth responded, looking up from her now almost boiling pot of water and giving Delilah a smile.

"Thank you so much." Delilah said, walking over to me, Beth, and Carol. Delilah had a very strong southern accent, almost stronger than Beth's. Carol was very nice and volunteered to show Delilah what she needs to do for her kitchen duty.

"What we are needing help with right now is taking inventory checks just to make sure no one is stealing the food since we've been having some issues with that recently." Carol told her, walking her over to shelves of food we had lining the longest walk in the kitchen. There voices soon became tuned out in my head over all the sounds of people working in the kitchen.

10 hours later (8:00 pm)

"God I am so tired," I said to Carl, taking off my pants and slipping on a pair of pajama shorts in the corner of our room.

"You're not the only one." Carl said, laughing slightly as he slumped down onto the bed and pulled the blanket up and over his legs.

"Well, I'm gonna go brush my teeth and take a shower." I said to him, walking out the door and down to the bathrooms. On my way there, I heard something similar to footsteps coming from a hallway nearby. I knew that there were no bedrooms near the hallway that I was in so, being the most bitch that I am, I peeked around the corner to see what the noise was coming from. My jaw dropped the second I realize what I was seeing.

Andrew and Jackson stood in the middle of the hallway, full on making out. Full. On.

I almost let out a giant gasp before I realized that it would make noise and they would notice me. I was just about to walk away from this unforgettable sight as Delilah entree the hallway from another direction.

"For Christ's sake, could you two boys quit making out? I knew he shouldn't have let you two go on this mission together. Now we have a task to do and we have to get it done in two days so don't mess this up or else he will be very angry with all of us." She threatened, pointing her finger in their faces. Out of fear of getting caught I turned and walked away to the bathroom as thoughts flooded my head...

"Who is he?"
"What is their mission?"
"What task do they need to complete?"

I started to look on the bright side as I took a shower. At least I'll have one hell of a weird story to tell Carl when I get back.

This. May. Be. The. Second. To. Last. Chapter.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

Bye loves,
Macy <3
