Dinner With The Belikovs Part 1

After several hours of packing boxes while looking after Aleksandr and moving them to guest housing, Dimitri and I sat down and the floor by Aleksandr's crib. We were exhausted. We had just finished unpacking the necessities, because we would be leaving again in a couple weeks for court. Aleksandr was alseep in his crib, and Dimitri and I hadn't had anything to eat all day. We were starving, so we had Lissa bring a pizza up to us. She was really happy to see Dimitri, Aleksandr, and I finally be together as a family.

We quietly ate our pizza. After awhile, Dimitri spoke up. "My family wants to have dinner with you. Nothing like we did after graduation. Like, and actual dinner. We don't have to do it if you don't want to, but I thought I should still ask."

I stopped chewing my pizza and looked at him. I was a bit surprised. "Um, yeah. Sure. When were they thinking?"

"Tomorrow night. They also want Aleksandr to be there too. I think they want to see us together for the first time without fighting or it being awkward."

"That's fine. I get why they want to do this. Just let me know what time so I can get ready on time."

"Okay," he said. We finished eating and he got ready to leave. It was Dimitri's night with Aleksandr, so I helped gather his stuff real quick while Dimitri picked him up while trying not to wake him up. We both said goodnight and went our separate ways.

I could not sleep at all that night. It was my first night without having Aleksandr at all. Not having Aleksandr was so weird. He's not even a month old yet, but I can't even remember life without having him with me. I had just finished getting ready for dinner with Dimitri's family. Dimitri had had Aleksandr all day and I was a bit impatient. I know that we have to share Aleksandr at the moment, but I'm just not used to being without Aleksandr for so long. It's a new feeling and experience. I kind of don't like it. I'm glad that Aleksandr gets to spend time with his dad, because that's something I've never been able to do. I just don't like not being able to spend time with my son. I'm going to be Lissa's guardian soon, and I just want as much time with Aleksandr as possible before I can't be with him. I feel selfish for wanting Aleksandr with me all the time, but I know that Dimitri and Aleksandr need their time together too. Dimitri needs him as much as I do.

Someone knocked on my door while I was thinking. I went over to open the door and find Dimitri with Aleksandr. "Hey," he said.

"Hey." I opened the door more and motioned for him to come in. He set Aleksandr's portable crib and things down. I had already packed Aleksandr's smaller diaper bag, so we didn't need to repack and carry around the big and bulky one.

"You ready to go," Dimitri asked.

"Yeah. Let's do this," I said. I grabbed Aleksandr's diaper bag and shut the door behind us. We walked to Dimitri's family's room and knocked on the door. It's time for dinner with the Belikovs.
