Chapter 7: What?
"So why are you hanging with Craig Perri?" Seth questions as we come upon our sixteen measure rest in the song.
"Ugh! I'm not. Something just happened and somehow the Vultures think that I'm someone who wants to talk to them."
"What happened?"
"I actually don't know yet. And I'm not sure that I want to. "
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing," I say, not wanting to go into it.
We quickly pick up our horns when we hear our cue and start playing. It is then though that an obnoxious, off beat noise, resounds throughout the band room. And it sounds exactly like a triangle.
"Perri, what on earth do you think you are doing?" Mr. Yerts yells causing everyone to stop.
"Just a little improv, sir." Cue eye roll.
"Well stop."
"Sorry, sir. When you have a four inch dick you don't exactly have much talent." Everyone kind of looks at him strangely while I bark out a laugh.
"Don't worry Craig, I've met people with ten inch dicks that are even less talented than you," I holler back, causing Craig and Seth to laugh.
"Both of you, out!" Wow, Mr. Yerts. Steam is practically coming out of his ears.
"Oh, come on sir, they were just joking around."
"You want to join them Seth?"
"Not particularly," he mutters, looking guiltily at me. I smile at him, putting my horn back in its case and walking into the hall with a little over fifteen minutes of class left. Craig soon follows me out.
I sit on the floor against the lockers as I hear the band starting to play again.
"So, you're a jokester I see," Craig admires as he sits next to me, a bit too close for my liking.
"Eh, it's just band. Plus, things sort of come out of my mouth before I can stop them."
"Like the four inch dick thing?"
"Nope, that one was thoroughly thought out."
"Of course it was." It's silent for a moment after that before he speaks again.
"So I'm going to ask this once again, if you hate us so much, why are you hanging around us?"
"It's not like I'm trying to! It's only the second day of school and Leighton wants to be 'friends' for some reason and the brothers are at it again making my life miserable."
"How so?"
"Tell me what's going on with Dylan's brother and I'll definitely answer that."
"No can do, T-Bag. Bros before- lovely ladies," he finishes after I glare at him.
