Chapter 9: A Deal
Leighton.
Dylan invited Leighton into my home.
Kill me now. I mean, I know that I said that I wanted a friend, especially Leighton, but I didn't think that it would actually happen. I thought that I would wish for it to happen while she secretly talked behind my back. I was just desperate in my moment, moments, of weakness.
"Leighton, I'm sorry that you came all the way over here, but you need to leave."
Her cheery expression quickly turns to confusion. "I thought that-"
"Oh, come on T. She came all the way here, just let her stay."
I sigh, closing my eyes to stop my pending headache.
"Look, I'm sorry Leighton, but you need to go."
"Trinket, Dylan said that he is worried about you, so that gives me a reason to be here."
"No, it actually doesn't."
"Well, I'm staying no matter what, so deal with it." She voiced a bit more forcefully. Who knew that she had a foot to put down?
"I could call Craig over instead," Dylan declares looking smug. Jerk hole.
"Fine you can stay Leighton, just don't expect to have a good time."
"I brought mini cupcakes, vanilla coke- a liter for each of us- and a stack of Disney Channel Original Movies. We don't even have to talk." She expresses, holding up a full bag that I failed to notice. She breaks into a big smile before she turns away from me. "Get out, Dylan."
"What? I thought that I would stay a little then-"
"No, your work is done. She's mine now."
He seemed a bit apprehensive, which was strange considering he had basically forced her into my house, but then seemed to come to his senses and left with a hug and a kiss to my forehead...which- though I will never admit- was just too short.

It has been about three hours since Dylan left, and Leighton has kept her promise so far. All that we have done so far is watched Lilo and Stitch, followed by the Even Stevens Movie, while drinking our individual bottles of coke and eating mini cupcakes. I don't exactly have any experience with hanging around girls, so I don't know if this is even normal, but I do know that it is exactly what I need. Company, but them not being overbearing. Quietness, but not so quiet that my thoughts implode my mind. Something to do, but something that doesn't have to do with ruining myself in the process. And this is all that I have ever needed, not that anyone has been there to notice. I don't exactly blame them, though. I know that I haven't put myself out there for them to notice. It's just hard, you know? Putting your trust into someone when the person that you trusted the most betrayed you. It's not as easy as it seems. At this point, the only person that I can trust isn't even a person, but my dogs. And even they are sketchy.
"Can I use your restroom?" Leighton asked, breaking me from my thoughts. Good thing, too.
"Uh, yeah, just go down the hall and it's the second door to your right."
"Thanks."
When she gets up, I try to focus on the movie once again, but find it harder than before. Why is he coming back? Now, of all times. Is that why Dylan has been talking to me again? Well, not exactly talking, but at least acknowledging my existence? Why does him coming back change anything, though? It probably doesn't, actually. Dylan most likely won't talk to me now that I know. The truth is out, and his job is done.
