Caroline was packing up her stuff, knowing that with Steve back he would like to go somewhere that wasn't New York for the moment. There is always a sadness about packing. Caroline guessed that she always wondered if where she was going is as good as where she's been. She looked over her shoulder to where a soldier was clearing his throat.

"Are you almost done?" Steve asked looking and wondering if Caroline needed help.

"Almost," she said placing some photos of her with Clint and Natasha.

"You surely made a life for yourself since I've been gone. You accomplished so much that I've always wondered why you didn't take my advice."

"What advice?"

"The last thing I told you was to settle down, get married, have a couple of children. Be happy."

Caroline sighed sitting down next to him in the bed, ready to explain her troubled experience since he's been gone.

"Don't you get it, Steve? I couldn't imagine a universe not matter how many dimensions there were without you in it. There was no world for me if there was no you."

"That one photo of you in the dress says otherwise."

"I ran out of the wedding. I left a guy at the altar, a good guy because I was still in love with the skinny guy from Brooklyn."

She looked at Steve and at his lips, Steve was also looking down at her, and in that moment he leaned in and gently brushed her lips.
She reached up and grabbed Steve's face pulling it down as she stood on her toes and planted an impassionate kiss onto his lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her body closer to his.  He wrapped his arms around her waist as their lips moved. There is so much beauty in simplicity. And that's exactly what this kiss was – simple, yet so incredibly profound, electric, magical, and amazing. This was the kiss that two friends shared. Two friends who've gracefully overcome every hurdle life threw their way. Two friends that were brought together by fate, and who confide in one another about anything and everything, and two friends that love each other unconditionally without doubt.

This is Steve Rogers, who has been through hell – he lost the girl he loved the most in the world, and always felt like he couldn't move on – but he finally did. This moment proved it. He wouldn't have initiated anything if he didn't truly want it; if he didn't truly feel anything for Caroline. He has always loved her, deep down  and have gotten to know each other better. Steve can be himself around Caroline – all his walls, all his insecurities come crashing down when she's around. She sees right through him, and knows him deep down to his soul. He moved so slowly towards her, and you could literally hear his heart beating a mile a minute as he finally reached Caroline – he flickered his eyes shut, praying and hoping that this was what she wanted too – and kissed her. This is a man who has finally realized what he's always wanted has been right there in front of him all along. This is a man who has grown up – who has seen everything, and finally realized life does give us second chances. This is a man taking that chance, unafraid to love again.

This is Caroline Kingsley insecure, neurotic control freak that we all know and love. She is beautiful, kind, humble, caring, giving, and she would do anything for the people she loves. And Steve knows that. It's the kind of thing he's always been drawn and attracted to. Steve sees the real Caroline. He saw her beauty not the iron beneath. He knows how little she thinks of herself; and he constantly tries to prove to her that she's extraordinary in every way. Caroline doesn't have to pretend with him. He can see right through her.

These are two friends finally realizing that love comes in all different shapes and forms. Sometimes it's thrown at us when we least expect it. Sometimes, without even realizing it, we fall in love with that one person.

"I love you" he said taking her hands into his.

"I love you too."

"So... what now?" Caroline asked Steve. Both their hands were intertwined, as she watched her teammates say their goodbyes.

"I'm not sure.... where do you wanna go?" Steve's smile got wider when he saw Caroline's blue eyes bubble.

"That means I'm going wherever you're going right?"

"Only if you want to..." His heart raced

"Considering I never left New York... I want to." she said before jumping into his strong arms. Steve held her burying his face into her lovely hair. He lifted her up and spun her around, never taking his eyes off of hers as he listen to her giggles. He placed her back on the ground and gave her a sweet little kiss.

The Avengers huddled around them, giving them hugs and pats on the back, for Caroline finally saying yes to Steve.

After they watched Thor and Loki leave, Caroline hugged Natasha so hard that she was nearly fighting for air," I'm going to miss you so much."

"Right back at you. I'll see you soon." Caroline smiled before pulling away.

Natasha gave Bruce a suitcase while Caroline walked over yo Steve and Tony, " You better keep this little vamp safe or I'll-"

Tony saw Caroline approaching and put on a smile," Hey!" Caroline furrowed her eyebrows before she hugged someone she considered a brother. " Don't play dumb Tony, I got vamp hearing. I know what you said."

"I'll keep in touch" He said

"You better or else I'll come back and suck all the blood out of your little precious body. Oh and trust me I'm not a nice person when I'm blood deprived." She smirked at him.

"Duly noted"

"I'll protect her with my life." Steve glanced down at Caroline as Tony rolled his eyes as he watched them stare at each other before walking to his car.

Caroline hugged her arrow friend, " Bye, Clint" He smiled before climbing into the passenger's side.

Caroline climbed onto the back of Steve's motorcycle, wrapping her arms around his waist as she kissed the side of his cheek. He felt it and smiled feeling the butterflies that he never thought he would feel again.

"Where to?" Steve turned to see Caroline resting her chin on his shoulder.

She made a silly face at him, " I hear that the West Coast is pretty nice right now."
