While the rest of the room is having their own business, I check my phone again. Trying to keep myself busy. I am having a little bit headache.
"Annie, why won't you join us here?" Carl says. He's an old friend of mine. They are playing some game.
"Thanks, but next time maybe. Sorry."
He nods and goes.
I wander around and found this guy staring at me. I try to ignore him, so I look away. From that last minute, he smiles. According to a book I read: when a non-hot guy stares at you, it's a form of like, an insult. But a hot boy . . . well...
I try to look at him again. He is about a row at the back of me and a few columns away. There are not much people here already that's why it is kinda open. He stops staring and put his focus on his desk. Writing something in a blue paper. He is around some guys from the football and basketball team (who are all hot). Maybe it's just my imagination he was staring at me. I'm hungry though. I glance at him again and realize he looks familiar, I just cannot remember. I do not know how to describe him personally. He seems... perfect. He has black hair which is bizarrely fixes but in a cute way, the way he grins and when somebody is talking to him, he crooks his brows like finding the right words and proper ways to say it. Never mind, I tell myself. Don't do the same mistake you did. You can't fall in love with someone you don't know deeply.
Few of my friends is calling me now and forcing me to join them. "Do I have a choice?!" They laugh as I stand to join them sitting on the floor. Now I see what they are doing. They are playing 'Spin-the-bottle. It is a great game! We laugh a lot.
Spin, spin, spin. I am not practically paying attention to the game. People start to go in our use to be a small circle, now we are almost fifteen.
I just laugh with them. They all give crazy dares. All I wish is that it would never stop at me.
I fish for my phone in my pocket. It is hard while I am sitting on the floor.
I text Cindy.
'Hows class? Havin fun here'
The next dare is to kiss the one who spinned. My phone rings, it is Cindy.
'Fine. Ugh can't w8 til lunch. Have something to tell u'
I am about to reply but I notice they turn all quiet and find them all looking at me. I look at the bottle. The bottle is points at me!
"Kiss the one who spinned."
I look up to see who spinned. Shit. It is the hot guy who looks familiar. My heart beats faster now. Wth.
They all start to cheer. Just then, the bell rings. Thankfully.
"Okay, break time! Saved by the bell." I stand and smile sarcastically.
"It is unfair!" Carl says.
"Nuh-uh" I say, shaking my head.
"Yeah. Dear, you must. He is a great and hot guy. Just a few seconds. It won't sting, you know." Grace says in a loud and obvious whisper.
All at once, they say:
"Go, Annie!"
"Just for the game."
"Don't lose the opportunity!"
"Be fair with the game!"
He just stands there, chuckling. Hmmm.... Feels like he likes this. I decide to hate him.
I ignore them. I am by my desk fixing my bag. "No, no, no!"
"Guys, it's break time. Aren't you going down?" Miss Beck walks toward us.
Mina, another crazy girl in my class, explains to Miss Beck.
"Okay, guys it's time to go. Just continue your games later. You still got half of the day ahead of you." She says with a playful smile and looks at me then winks. She walks away.
They all fix their things and go off. My phone vibrates. As I expect, it's Cindy.
'Wer r u now?'
"Hey." I turn. It is him. The room is almost empty. Just us and about five others.
"Oh. Hi."
"Yeah. Uhm, about earlier..."
"It is fine. It's just that I..." I sigh. "Hope you get it. Sorry." I say apologetically.
"Uhm, I understand. And it was just a game, you know." He says with a smile.
"Well do not think I do not like you." I try to correct it and start again, "No, I don't mean I really like you like, like you, but you know. It's just that— that—" I stutter.
He starts laughing and I laugh too. What am I saying?!
"By the way, don't mind if I ask, but you look familiar. Have we met before?"
"Maybe." He smiles. "I am Ian. You are Stefannie, right?"
I nod. "How'd you know?"
"I knew a lot." And he winks.
We start walking to the door, both laughing. Now we are alone inside this huge classroom. He goes out first. Then I saw Cindy, waiting for me outside.
"Cindy!" I call.
"I was about to pick you up." She says exhausted."I went back and forth in the cafeteria. Whew!"
"Oh Cindy, sorry I did not mean to. I was just stock up with this crazy game earlier and need to fix my things." I explain. "So, so far so good?"
"Yeah, I think so. He is hot!" She says with excitement.
"Who?"
"Xander!" She rolls her eyes. That makes me laugh. Haha, I'm pretty sure I rolled my eyes too.
"What?! It is true. I wasn't teasing you. And he is sad."
"Like I care, huh? It was you who dated him. You almost... well, I don't care to him."
"Of course you do! You had or have a crush on him." She laughs. "What was that game? The one you've been stucked?"
"Not until I learned he is a total screw up!" I say defending myself. "Just a spin-the-bottle game."
She squeals at me. "Don't tell me someone dared you to kiss someone."
I sigh. "No..." I tried to lie, but she knows me so well...
"Oh. My. God. Is he hot?"
"Yeah. And he's nice, I think."
"So, you talked!"
"Yeah but not really that long."
"I shall need to meet that guy before someone else tells me someday you already have a boyfriend."
I laugh. "He is not going to be my boyfriend."
She waves her hands away, gesturing. "Stop being humble, Annie. You're pretty, smart, funny and nice. Everyone, even gays and bi's can fall for you."
I know she is trying to cheer me up, but I think she exceed reality already. I shall not go beyond my limits, I may hurt myself afterwards.
