JACOB

I walk to the edge and peer across. I shake my head and turn back. My feet slowly dragging along. It's been 5 weeks without her, and I'm straight up losing my mind. I swear I saw her. Maybe I was only seeing what I wanted to see. That was weeks ago. I see her every time I close my eyes. Maybe one day I'll understand why. I just need her back. Yellow eyes is dead. The kids are losing it, making it harder for me to regain it. So now what am I left to do? The kids have grown, making it worse. I search everyday. Alex is getting too out of hand. He needs her about as much as I do. Maybe more. I step out of the trees and look over my shoulder back to the woods. Hoping that she's following. She never is. I only see the trees.

"Jacob, she'll be back." Gabe says.

"Then why haven't I seen her, or been able to get to her." I retort.

"Castiel has kept an eye out, on all levels. She's alive, just running."

"No, El isn't like that. She left because she had to, she was going to kill yellow eyes, then she was going to come back."

"The super moon wasn't that long ago. She's probably just trying to gain control again."

"Maybe." I sigh walking inside. Alex looks up from the TV with hope.

"Anything?" He asks with pleading eyes. Then his face falls flat.

"She'll turn up." Helena says. "Won't she Emmett?"

"She always does." Emmett looks at me sadly. Alex stands up and walks toward Emmett.

"Then why hasn't she?" Alex crosses his arms.

"She's wild. Your mother has her reasons for doing things."

"You didn't find her, because she didn't want you to. That's why you can't find her now."

"How do you know?"

"She's my sister."

"That you haven't seen in 8 years."

"It doesn't matter. He's still her brother. He can help."

"We can't find her because she doesn't want to be found."

"She doesn't want us to find her." I state coming to realization. Alex snaps his head toward me.

"What do you mean?"

"One thing I learned. You can't find her unless she wants to be found. Your mom spent 7 years running. We didn't find her until she gave in."

"Why is she running now?" Helena asks standing up. I look at Emmett, then Bella who has stayed silent. I turn and run out the door.

"Jake don't!" Bella yells. I phase and run. I shift back and look around. I look at her den and crouch beside it. I pull her ring out of my pocket and sigh. I look inside her den and grab her blanket. Her scent is all over it, but it's torn to shreds.

"El, think about shifting and it'll happen." I try to tell her. I put the ring in my pocket and stand back up. Twigs snap and my head flicks toward the sound.
