Chapter 5:
The words came out like he’d said it a hundred times. I smiled at him. “I think I…,” I began but was cut off with the back door opening. I moved back looking away from Jason. I couldn’t believe what just happened.
“Sorry kids, but us adults’ can’t eat cheese burgers and all not nasty stuff.” my mom joked. My parents and Jason’s parents sat across from Jason and I. “So! Anna.” Lanaye started. “Do you remember us at all?” she asked. Jason sighed. “Mom!”
She looked at Jason then back to me. I didn’t know whether to lie or if I just tell the truth. “Well, Jason has told me a lot, but it doesn’t bring back any memories.” I said. Guess it was plan B. “Well, my love. Just ask what you want to know, and we’ll tell it to you.” My mom said.
I sighed.
“When did you imprint on Jason and I?” I asked. Lanaye exchanged looks with my mom. “Well, before we were split apart, Jason here had a huge crush on you. Now as kids, vampires only crush once. If a male, if they crush, the female has no choice but to imprint. Sometimes it’s a good thing; like your father and I. I love your father deeply.” my mom answered. I looked over at Jason, who looked away. “Did you like dad at all before when you first imprinted?” I asked. My mom laughed. “Oh no. Your father was the last person I wanted to talk to! Especially because of the imprint. I didn’t know him, but as we got to know each other more, I fell more in love with him. Now, I’m glad I have him forever.” she said. I looked down at my lap. It soon got awkward. “My dears, you must be exhausted from your trip.” Lanaye said to Jason and I. Jason looked over at me and then looked away. “Yes. We’ll continue the question tomorrow. We made a room upstairs for you and Jason. It was quite difficult to find a bed, but we managed to find one. Jason, why don’t you show her.” my mom said.
“Of course.” he smiled. He kissed his mother on the cheek and bro-hugged his dad, then did the same to my parents. I hugged both parents of Jason’s then mine. “We’ll see you in the morning.” my mom said, smiling as Jason took me by the hand and walked up two flights of stairs to our room.
Once he closed the door, my whole attitude changed. “Care to explain why you didn’t tell me about the male crush?” I asked dropping his hand. Jason looked down and walked to the bed taking his shoes off. “I’m sorry Anna. I just didn’t want you to run away and be all freaked out! I knew you were confused and scared and I didn’t want to do anything to make it worst.” he said. I shook my head. “So, lying and not telling me important details is going to make me less nervous?! I’m new here Jason! I deserve an explanation. The truth!” I said. Jason stood up and walked close to me. I walked back, being stopped by a wall. Jason put both hands up by my head. “Anna, I love you! I always had! Since we were little! Before you forgot about me! I did what I did to protect you and make you feel safe around me!” he said.
My eyes soften and my anger toned down. He dropped his hands to his sides once he saw the attitude change. “I thought it would of made things less confusing if I just left it.” he said. I walked pass him and into the bathroom where all my clothes were hung up nicely in the closet. I took a pair of pajamas out and changed, pulling my hair up into a bun. Jason watched me.
As I was about to turn around and walk out, Jason took my waist and held me in one spot. “Anna, my love. Please forgive me.” he whispered. I looked at him and then to his lips. I crossed my arms over my chest. “Let me be the one you love, who you would want to be with forever. Please? I’ve been wanting to see you forever. Now that I have you, I don’t want to loose you.” he said. I wrapped my arms under his, hugging him. Though it was too soon, my feelings for him grew, just like my mothers.
He pulled me into a tight hug. “I love you Jason.” I whispered and sadly, I meant it. I thought I would never say those words, especially to someone I barley remember from a childhood I don’t remember.
As those words escaped my mouth, his hugged tightened. “I love you too Anna. I will always protect you and love you. You are my life now.” he whispered and placed a light kiss on my forehead.
The next morning, I woke up in Jason’s arms. He was still asleep. He looked so adorable asleep. I tried to move out from under him without waking him up. Jason tightened his grip. “Don’t leave me.” he whispered. I giggled. He opened his eyes and smiled at me. “Good morning beautiful.” he said. I snuggled up to him. “Good morning.” I whispered. He kissed me softly. Every kiss just made my heart stop and my love for grow.
We lay in bed for another hour or so, laughing and cuddling. The more I talked to Jason, the memories of my childhood started coming back to me. We would laugh about how we use to get in trouble for things like getting dirty right after a bath or fighting over things like who’s mud pie was better. Jason was honestly my best friend. Probably my only real friend and to know that we have to put up with each other forever made it that much better.
I sighed. “Jason, what if we don’t get along? What if this only works for a few months?” I asked. “Oh, I’m pretty sure we’ll last. I mean, we have history. I don’t think that can be broken up.” he said. I raised my eyebrow at a thought that came to my head. “Does this mean we’re technically married?” I asked. Jason thought to himself. He shrugged.
When I was little, I always dreamed what every little girl dreams of; a wedding. Being in a beautiful dress, standing next to the one you love and want to be with forever. I wonder if this ‘imprinting’ thing meant that wasn’t possible.
I didn’t want to ask him. I felt it was too soon.
I got out of bed, walking to the bathroom, washing my face and brushing my teeth. I threw on some make up and comfy clothes then walked out of the bathroom, seeing Jason was pretty much dressed for the day. He looked nice. Too nice.
“Jeez handsome. Where are you going this fine afternoon?” I joked. He smirked at me. “Well, our parents want us to meet them at some spot in the woods so we can catch up.” he replied. “I don’t have anything nice to wear though. I didn’t pack for a long stay.” I said. He took my hand. “Follow me.”
He took me to a huge closet, full of clothes. I looked around in awe. “This is all yours.” he said smiling. I looked at him. “What? No. This can’t be!” I said in disbelief. He nodded. “Our moms went shopping last night while we were asleep. This is all yours.” he smiled. I walked in and looked through the clothes briefly. I pulled out a blue dress. The back was low and it was a little pass mid-thigh. It was flowy and fit my body perfectly. Jason nodded.
I put the dress on the little island table and ran into Jason’s arms, kissing him softly. He wrapped his hands around my waist. “What was that for?” he asked smirking.
I kept my arms wrapped around his neck. “I don’t know.” I smiled. He kissed me again. “I’m so glad you remember me! And it’s even better to know that you are all mine!” he smiled.
About twenty minutes passed, and I was all dressed and ready to go to this place with my birth mom and mother-in-law. I was nervous. Not nervous to be with my new family, but nervous to be around other vampires. I still had blood in my veins and warmth in my body. I knew they were vegetarians, but you never know; they could snap at the sight or smell of blood.
Jason opened the door to his hummer, helping me inside. As we started driving to our destination, he looked over at me. “You okay?” he asked. I took a deep breath and nodded. “Just kind of scared to be around all these vampires.” I said.
He nodded. “I know that feeling. Trust me, they won’t hurt you. You’re just like one of them.” he said. “I know, but I still have blood. What if I trip and cut something?” I said. Jason laughed. “I wouldn’t let that happen, Anna.” I smiled a little. “I know.” I took a deep breath. I seriously needed to calm down.
