Chapter 26

you woke up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping. a cool morning breeze crept in through the window as the silence filled your ears. you sat up and stretched, loosening your stiff muscles from a terrible night sleep. you got up and crept into the kitchen. the floor boards underneath creaked from the pressure as you tried to be as quiet as possible. you entered the living room, obviously your dad had cleaned up before he left for work this morning because all remnants of last night had vanished. everything was in order: no overturned tables or chairs, no blood drops on the floor, and no shattered glass against the wall. you walked into the kitchen and found a piece of paper taped to the refrigerator. 

~ morning Hayley, went to New York for a business trip, be home on September 30th. left money for food on the counter. love you, dad~

thank god hes gone and being it was only September 16th he wouldn't be back for a while. you didn't know what would happen if he saw Niall with you again, and you hoped he wouldn't find out, well for now at least. you decided to have some breakfast, shower than get dressed. you put on a pair of whitewashed denim shorts, a grey tank top with a neon pattern in the front and a hot pink bandeau underneath. you let your hair air dry so you would have your natural waves and added a tiny bit of eye makeup. you cleaned your room to pass the time and then you saw him. a speck of blond walking down the front of your lawn. a smile formed on your face and you rushed to the front door. before he could ring the doorbell, you were already in his arms with your lips pressed against his. you could feel him smiling through the kiss which caused the same reaction from you. he had your legs wrapped around his waist and his arms around you. your hands were running through his soft blonde hair as you deepened the kiss.he put you down and whispered

N:" i miss your so much princess"

Y:"i missed you more babe"

N:"thats not possible, you mean the world to me"

he placed a gentle kiss onto your forehead and pulled you close to him. 

N:"so wheres your dad, are you okay?

Y:"im fine now that your here, and hes on some business trip"

N:"more time to be with my girl, you sure your ok, you sounded pretty upset last night"

Y:"yeah im fine"

D:"good, so whats the plan for today"

Y:"its a surprise, follow me"

you grabbed his hand and started walking towards the woods. you decided to take Niall to one of your favorite places. somewhere where you were two could be alone and no one would bother you. no photographers, or fans, or anyone, just the two of you. you led him off the path in the woods causing a few confused looks

Y:"don't worry, you'll love it"

you climbed over fallen trees up and over rock ledges while fallen leaves crunched beneath your feet. your breath had grown heavier and heavier as you climbed more and more. 

N:"are we almost there? im tired"

Y:"almost there, come on babe"

you held your hand out and pulled him up and into a clearing. you had him close his eyes, when he opened them he stood at the top of a raging waterfall. the crystal clear water cascaded down the side of the rocks into a pool down below. he turned to you and smiled

N:"its beautiful, almost as beautiful as you"

you blushed and he wrapped his arms around you. you walked over to edge and sat down as the sound of the waterfall drowned out everything else in the woods. Niall came by you and sat down, you both sat in silence until he looked at you. you looked back at him and saw him staring at your shoulder. you strap had fallen down and revealed the bruise on your shoulder left by your father. you quickly fixed your strap, but Niall still looked at you like you had 3 heads

N:"did he do that to you?"

Y:"i-it doesn't matter"

N:"it does matter Hayley, look at me. did he do this to you last night"

Y:"y-y-yeah"

N:"oh Hayley, im so sorry"

Y:"you don't have to be sorry Niall, it was my fault"

N:"i promised to protect you, and i wasn't there, im sorry"

Y:"its fine, i love you babe"

N:"i love you too princess"

you sat there in each others arms for a while, until you had a brilliant idea.

Y:"so you ready?"

N:"ready for what"

Y:"to jump"

N:"wait what?"

Y:"come on"

you got up and took off your shoes and tossed them over to the side. Niall looked at you like you were crazy, but you didn't care. 

N:"your not serious are you?"

Y:" of course i am, i use to do this all the time as a kid"

N:"this can't possibly be safe"

Y:"its perfectly safe, there aren't any rocks for at least 30 feet down in the pool, nothing to worry about"

N:"i dont know about this Hayls"

Y:"hey, you and me against the world right"

N:"you really turned that around on me"

you laughed and walked to the edge, while Niall hesitantly took off his shoes. he walked next to you as you looked out over the water. you took a deep breath and jumped. you fell and landed feet first into the pool of water. the icy water rushed against your warm skin. goosebumps rose up on your skin as you glided through the surface of the water. you kicked up to the surface so you could catch your breath. you surfaced and looked towards the top of the waterfall as you swam towards the edge and waited for Niall to come down.
