Something they never told you
Maybe they thought it was a secret too bold for you.
I'll share for you, if you want me to?
It's the way the wind becomes your best friend and your worst enemy
It's the way the ground disappears beneath your feet.
It's the way you learn to fly on borrowed wings-
That isn't even the best part, I haven't told you yet...
It's the forever friend that joins you.
Built with love that destroys you.
Gives you dreams that control you,
And a wish for you to catch them.
It's the stretch from the ground to the stirrup.
It's the crashing and excitement of your first fall.
It's how proud you feel when you win your first rosette.
I bet no one ever shared this with you...
But why would they?
Because when they look at you, they see a little girl who saw a pony in a field
They don't see the champion you will become.
They don't see the wings you borrow become your own as you both fly.
But I do.
