If I was a puzzle,
And you were a piece,
What would we make?
Would your hand fit into mine?
Like a puzzle.
Would we be mismatched?
Like sticks and stones.
If I was a puzzle,
And you were a missing piece,
I would scour the living room-
check on every shelf and behind every sofa
Until I found you hiding behind a cushion.
If you were a puzzle,
And I; the missing piece
We all know what you would do.
You would look for peace, not the piece.
Get something new, not find something old.
People like you would never look behind the cushions.
At least, that is what I'm trying to convince myself;
I take one look at the discarded puzzle on the floor.
Slowly, I fix the pieces together to make a whole puzzle.
If I were a puzzle,
You wouldn't be a piece.
Because after some re-adjusting
My puzzle is complete.
