(Ruby's POV)
It was noon, on your average sunny-Californian day. Your even more average Californian high schoolers walking around the crowded halls or hell-I mean high school. I trudged through the depressing walkways that reminded me of how meaningless this is, when I heard the two most rumor-starting nerds and jocks walk by flaunting their muscles and smarts without even trying. Shut up, I'm not jealous.
"I heard she's defected." The green nerd snickered into Jasper's ear as they walked down the hall only a few feet in front of me.
"Apparently her gem's on her hand!"
The jock lightly cackled while peridot snorted. "She sounds like a clod! Hah!" Peridot sneered. I looked away, not only disgusted at them for talking like that about someone they haven't even met, but my gem is on my hand too, and I was a little less than embarrassed. I looked at my left hand, seeing a shiny red ruby gazing right back at me. I clenched my fists. I knew that it wasn't normal to have your gem on you hand, but why?

I just kept walking down the corridor and passed the two jerks towards my locker before my first class had started, when I bumped into someone.

"Oof!" I fell to the ground and dropped my backpack and all my books and homework (unfinished as always, might i add) spilled out.
"Hey! Watch where your go -" I started, but couldn't finish. As I looked up, I saw this beautiful girl with long blonde hair dip-dyed blue and the ends tied in a tight ponytail with long bangs covering her eyes. She was wearing a floral blue crop top with pastel pink shorts and a big fat blue bow in her hair, every detail sunk into me and stuck there, leaving me mesmerized by this stranger's beauty.
"Sorry," She stumbled as she drop her yellow backpack next to us and hurried to pick up my things for me.
"I-it's fine," I said as I bent down to pick up my books but didn't remove my ruby-red eyes at her morning-sky blue ones. I couldn't help myself, but I was blushing hard. I don't know why, but I just was.
She saw me staring and I looked down, embarrassed, possibly more than i was? Doubt it. She went to pick up my math book at the same time I did, cliché. Our fingers touched. I felt my body vibrate and my cheeks burning and turing as red as a tomato.
"I hope that's all of 'em." She said as she stood up again, she was blushing an adorable baby blue.
"Y-yeah I think so." I said shyly.
"Well, again, s-sorry about bumping into you." She said sticking out her hand shyly, the one with her gem, her right hand. It was a beautiful blue sapphire, even shinier than Mine.

A beautiful sapphire.
