Chapter 2: Children of the Moon

Night Walker Code 005- Feel the magic of the night

Hayden

The moon was high in the sky, which meant that the ritual could finally commence. In a perfect circle on the floor of an old abandon shack, eight Night Walkers sat backs straight and legs crossed, ready to begin. In the middle of the circle, was a lighten candle that was close to burning out in a bowl of water.

Sixteen year old Hayden Brooks repeated the instructions for the ritual to her circle once more. “Once the candle burns out, one by one we each poor drops of our blood in the bowl with the sacred knife, then I recite the words from chapter five paragraph forty-nine line three-hundred-and-fifty-six from the Night Walker Sacred Book, and after that you all follow and repeat your lines, got it?” The circle nodded, and then they all waited patiently for the candle to burn out. None of them said a single word the entire time.

They looked at the candle as the flames slowly started to fade, leaving nothing but the candle’s wax in the water. When it burned out, Hayden put the bowl in front of her, careful not to lose a single drop of the precious water, and then she grabbed the sacred knife that she always kept in her pocket. She opened her free hand and put it over the bowl; she then used the knife to cut right down the middle of her palm. She wasn’t worried that it would scar, Night Walkers healed quickly. When the cut was long and deep enough, she closed her hand into a fist and squeezed hard so that her black blood would fall into the bowl; as circle leader, it was important for her to give the biggest amount of blood. When Hayden thought she had lost enough, she gave the knife to Cole who was sitting next to her; she pushed the bowl so it would be in front of him. Their eyes met and he gave her a small wink that made her slightly blush—but now was not the time for her boyfriend’s hormones to flair up. Cole did the same thing that she had done with the knife, and then passed everything to his twin sister Callista, when she was done she gave the knife and pushed the bowl to Evander, when he completed his part he passed it along to his twin brother Chayton, when he was done he gave everything to Ezra, he accomplished his part and passed it along to his twin sister Liora, she spilled her blood and then past the knife and the bowl to Hayden’s twin sister Aria. Her sister was the last person of the circle and the final to spill her blood. When Aria was done, she put the bowl back to the center of the circle.

When it was perfectly centered they all grabbed each other’s’ hands, and then with her strong, powerful and dominant voice, Hayden started reciting the words from the Night Walker sacred book. “The moon at its highest, the night at its darkest, we search for power never forgiveness.”

“Forgiveness we shall never seek, power is what we need.” The rest of the circle said.

“We walk in the night, respecting our rights. We feed on the vulnerable and weak; we have neither regrets nor pity.” Hayden continued as the bowl slowly began to envelop itself in smoke.

“Pity we shall not have.” The circle responded, their voices getting louder.

“Together we live with respect and honour; and it is in this hour that we search the truth about what is rightfully ours.” Hayden felt the humidly in the air, it practically burned her cold pale skin. But she still kept her words strong. “Secrets of the darkness, moments that are of the closest; what is to be in the future that is near, we shall all see but never hear.”
