"W-what are you doing here?"You stammer as you scramble to sit up, now 110% awake. You were quite confused...and honestly a bit scared as to why L was not only in your room, and he somehow knew where you lived, but he was there in the middle of the night as well.
"I've always been here."
He answers back as if that was a strange or even stupid question. You stay sitting completely still in silence as your eyes adjust to the darkness, and once your vision starts to get better, you notice...he's a kid again. Surprised, you turn your focus away from him momentarily and scan the room. You then realize you're back at the orphanage, in your old bed tucked in the corner of the giant space. Your heart skips a beat and you shoot your eyes back to L as you're breathing becomes a small bit heavier from the pure shock of the situation. You attempt to speak, but no words come out of your mouth. Only an extremely small whimper. For some reason or another, you couldn't talk at all.
"I need to tell you something. Something I never got to say while you were here."
He says, and without wasting a second he grabs one of your hands and leans towards your ear, as if he was going to whisper something to you. But before a word was spoken, your alarm clock snaps you out of sleep, causing you to shoot up in your bed. You instantly check your surroundings to see that you were back at your apartment, and it was morning already.
"Just a dream..."
You sigh to yourself as you run your hand up your face and through your hair. Eventually you collect yourself and your eyes fall upon the window, immediately making you you realize that surprisingly It wasn't snowing today, but it still looked cold as hell out there. You inadvertently shiver from looking at the ocean of white that was just on the other side of the glass, and you stay in your warm sheets for a little while longer until you realize what time it is. You then reluctantly swing your legs over the side of your bed, immediately placing your feet into your soft slippers. You stretch forward to get up, and then drag yourself towards your closet. You quickly choose some simple but nice clothing, put some fuzzy socks on, and walk out towards the kitchen to begin your morning routine.
"Good morning."
You hear from the kitchen as you open your bedroom door to the rest of yours and Mei's apartment.
"Morning."
You yawn, feeling not very well rested with getting home so late on top of that super weird dream. You casually flick the TV on to Cartoon Network and let anything that comes on to play as you wander to the kitchen to make some toast and tea for yourself.
"We...Are the Crystal Gems..."
The TV sings as you slowly take some jam from the fridge and put some bread into the toaster for yourself.
"I love this show!"
Mei yells as she runs to sit down on the couch before the TV. You laugh to yourself a little as she sings along to the tune, and you unintentionally begin to watch the start of the episode with her as you make yourself a hot drink for the cold winter morning. However you're violently snapped out of your little daydream from the sudden smell of burning invading your nose.
"Oh crap!"
You yell as you open up the little door to the toaster, only to see your bread to be half burnt to hell and half completely uncooked. you sigh in frustration as you wave the small amount of smoke away from your face and stare at the uneven piece of bread.
