"Is that the last of it?" I asked my friend Nadine as she stumbled through the front door.
"Aye! Wee Pixie is still in the car though, sleeping." She replied, sitting the box down on the posh couch.
"I'll go and get her then."
As I made my way out to the car, I looked around the private car park. My little corsa looked like Dot Cotton's car from Eastenders compaired to the others. I bet you most of them are Cheryl and Ashley's. Opening the door, I scooped Pixie up into my arms. "Hey baby," I smiled, clapping her head. I could feel her little tail wagging. "This is your new home for two months." Don't get me wrong... it was nice, but I much preferred the flat me and Nadine shared. This one was two big and the complex was full of posh, wealthy people. "Come on." Smiling, I put Pixie on the ground and attached her cute little lead. It was funny, she hadn't got used to it yet. So, it took about ten minutes to get to the front entrance. "Good girl... come on... that's it." I praised, my head down, looking at her.
"Awwww!"
My head shot straight up. I hadn't even noticed anyone around.
"Look Sarah!"
I watched as a redheaded girl made her way over, a blonde woman following.
"So cute!" they both cooed.
I smiled at both of them.
"What's her name?" the blonde asked, bending down infront of me. She must of spotted the pink lead.
"Pixie," I replied, watching as both of them stroked, kissed, and played with her.
"She's so cute! What kind is she?" the pretty redhead asked.
"She's a Bichon Frise. I got her a couple of weeks ago. She's only just turned 9 weeks."
The blonde smiled. "Can I pick her up?"
"Course you can."
"I'm Nicola by the way," the redheaded girl smiled, extending her arm.
"I'm Kimberley. Nice to meet you." I replied, shaking her hand.
"And I'm Sarah." She had her hands full with Pixie, so I just smiled.
"It's nice meeting you Sarah."
"So, are you new?" Nicola asked, her hand reaching over and clapping Pixie as she talked.
I was thankful it was a sunny day, as we were still standing outside, infront of the entrance. "Yes. Me and my flatmate Nadine are renting one of the flats out for a while."
"Is that the flat next to Cheryl's?"
My ears pricked up at the sound of her name. "I dunno," I shrugged, playing dumb.
"What floor are you on?"
"Two," I smiled.
"Yeah, that's the flat next to Cheryl's. We live across the hall," Sarah smiled.
"Do you know Cheryl?" I asked, casually as we made our way inside, Pixie still in Sarah's arms.
"She's a close friend, yes. We've known her since she moved in seven years ago. The start of her fame, really. We're glad to have her back for a while. We've missed her." Nicola laughed.
"So you still talk to her?" I asked. I hoped I wasn't coming across as a weirdo.
"Of course. She often comes over for a few drinks. When she's free, that is," Sarah giggled.
Tiny alarm bells began going off in my head. These girls knew her! They were close friends with her! I had to get closer to them too. If I did, It would guarantee me at least some kind of contact with her. "Aww... that's nice. She sounds lovely," I lied. They had to think I liked her.
