"Cheryl seems nice," Nadine smiled, walking into the kitchen.  Placing her handbag down, she sat opposite me.

We had been here a week. And except from the occasional smile and wave, we hadn't talked. I had also met Ashley. He seemed quiet nice actually. Nicer than I had expected.

"Yeah, she's ok I suppose."

"Aye, by the sounds of it, she was really nice to you that night Buster ran over." I watched as she got up and switched the kettle on. "Do you want a cuppa?"

"Please babe. So, were you talkin' to her?"

"Aye. I met her in the hall there. She was heading out with Ashley. She said they were goin' for a nice meal and then a few drinks. I'm tellin' ya... they seem in love babe. I think you have bit off more than you can chew."

She was right. I had often seen them, when looking out of the window. They seemed smitten with each other. "I know what you mean."

"So, what are you goin' to do?" she asked, handing me the cup and sitting back down.

"Thanks babe," I smiled, gratefully. "I dunno. They can't be that happy all the time. Maybe I just need one picture or one confession. Something that could be misread and twisted. But I honestly just need something from her. I only really want her side of what happened. Anything else would be a bonus."

"How can you not feel bad about this?"

Taking a sip of my tea, I shrugged. "I just don't. If I don't make any sort of connection with her, I'll be fine. It won't happen anyway."

"Well... you have a heart of stone. I actually really like her."

"Nadine!" I said, raising a brow. "I mean it! Don't get too involved. Like I said, she won't like you for long. When the story comes out, she'll work out it was me. She's not stupid."

"If you get a story."

I rolled my eyes. "I will. Don't you worry your little Irish socks. I'll get my story one way or another."

Shutting my laptop, I turned and looked at the clock. It was three in the morning. I was glad I didn't have to go into work. Bert had gave me the time off. I only had to go in once every week to update him on how I was doing.

"Little baby," I smiled, clapping Pixie, who was asleep at the bottom of my bed.

Realising that I was tired, I decided I would go to bed, but not before I got myself a drink. So, I made my way to the kitchen, poured a glass of water, and made my way back. I was passing the door, when I heard giggling.

"Ashley! Stop it!"

Placing the glass down on the unit beside me, I pressed my ear up against the door.

"You're so sexy!"

It was them. They both sounded drunk.

"At least wait until I have the door opened." Cheryl giggled.

"Ooh I can't wait baby!" Ashley growled back, turning my stomach. The things I do for money! And then it went quiet. I just prayed the walls weren't paper thin.

Making my way back to my room, I pulled out my little notpad.

there's a picture of a note bad saying:
