today was a good day.

knock knock. he was awoken by his, also groggy, mom. she had work midnights, so she came home tired. she was a short woman, who always had a sparkle in her eye. she was nothing like seth. she was carefree and an outgoing woman. seth was taller, but he actually did have that sparkle. he was a little more focused at school and always hard-working during basketball. he was pretty outgoing though. most of the time, he was confident in his words and his actions, but not always. although he wasn't as problematic as ella, he had his own issues.

"Wake up," his mom walked in, pulling the sheets off his bed.

he groaned, "five more minutes," he begged.

his mom pulled the sheets off completely, as if not hearing his objections. he got up, anyway. he went to the bathroom to freshen up and get changed. once done, he ventured downstairs to the kitchen, following the delicious smell of fresh pancakes. he rushed into the kitchen and took a seat. seth received his food and devoured it whole.

"Wow. Nice appetite," his dad joked, reading the newspaper.

"sh-toph," seth replied, attempting to defend himself, instead, spitting food all over the counter.

before his mom could scold him, he hopped off the counter and dashed out the door saying a quick, 'thank you' and a 'goodbye.' once past his parents, and out the door, he took a stroll to the bus stop. he waited.

and waited.

he pulled out his phone to check his messages. and he saw one that made him smile.

e-hi

the bus arrived and he hopped on. he took a seat with garrett.

"Hey," garrett said.

seth responded with a quick hi and got back to his phone.

e-hii :)

s-how are you?

e-good. i dont want to go to school though :p

s-but youll see me though

he laughed quietly to himself after saying that and garrett looked confused. he just shook his head. the bus stopped at the school parking lot. seth looked at his phone quickly, and not seeing a reply, he frowned, shutting his phone off and went to school. he piled his books into his locker and hung his bag next to ella's. the teacher waved for everyone to sit. he took a seat and looked up to smile to ella.

she smiled back, but his head was down by then.

he still saw it though.

*ring*

the bell rang, going through the school. seth made a beeline for the lunch line, for garrett was in counseling, he had time to be early. he got his food and reached the lunch tables. he took a seat and waved the trio of ella, melanie, and jonah over.

"Hey!" he called to them.

ella took a seat to his left and rested her head on his shoulder.

it was nice.

he looked at her while she laughed along with jonah, as they teased melanie. he couldn't help but get jealous of jonah. ella seemed to like him a lot and he was perfect. well seth thought he was. seth always thought he wasn't good enough for ella.

it was upsetting that ella thought the exact same thing.
