You wake up Saturday morning , not ready for your date with Mark. You can't believe he's a youtuber. It always seemed to you like a job that jerks get. Jerks that want to be famous. You feel sick. You spend most of the day watching the clock. Your mother excitedly reminds you every hour that passes that you'll be going on your first date as an adult. You can only think about the fact that you are going on a date with a man that 9,000,000 people watch. You really do feel sick.

"(Y/n), I really feel like I'm more excited for your date then you." She says, concerned. "Whats up?" You can't help but chuckle a little bit.

"You will be excited when I tell you who I'm dating tonight." Your mom raises an eyebrow. You sigh. "Its Markiplier, mom" just saying this grosses you out. Your moms eyes widen further than you think you have ever seen anyone's eyes get. She stands up, her mouth open in shock.

"Your kidding!" She gasps. You shake your head.

"Not kidding." You say with regret. Your mom begins to freak out a bit.

"Why didn't you say so before?!" She asks, more excited. You are sure her pink hair would be standing up in surprise if she we're a cat.

"I didn't know." You shrug. "I only knew him as Mark."
Your mom nods, understanding, though you can tell she wants to fangirl some more.

"Do you still want to go out with him?" She asks you.

You aren't sure...

"I should give him a chance I think. " you tell her. She nods.

"I figured." She tells you. "You know, he's not a bad person..." she sighs, her eyes shining as she stares at nothing. You ignore her fangirling.

"How do you know you have been seeing the real him?" You ask. Your mom looks suddenly serious.

"Trust me. I know he's sincere." She tells you. "He is a good man." You sigh.

"I guess I'll see for myself..."
Your mom nods.

"Don't give up on him too quickly. You can't judge someone for what they do." She looks straight into your eyes with her hands on your shoulders. "Promise me you won't."

"I promise." You agree.

You watch Mark's YouTube channel until you need to get ready for your date. From the videos that you had watched, he seemed to be very kind and polite, but youtubers had always seemed fake to you. Like actors trying to make you believe that it is their real life. The videos you had watched all seemed very over the top. Ridiculousness spewing from Mark's mouth at all times. You didn't know what to think. You go to your room and put on some black skinny jeans, your black converse and a red men's flannel. You had always liked them better than women's flannels. you put your hair in a quick braided bun and put on some makeup. You look ready, but you don't feel ready. You take a deep breath and check the time. 6:32. You sigh. You assume Mark will be here soon to pick you up. Sure enough at 6:35 the doorbell rings. You answer the door nervously.
Mark greets you with a smile on his face. He's wearing his glasses, and a red flannel. You nearly groan. Mark just laughs, his head thrown back. Its a very charming laugh that makes you feel warm on the inside. Its nice.
"Well, we'll surely stick out." He chuckles. "We look like twins who are forced to wear matching clothes." You look down at your flannel.

"Its my favorite shirt." You say.
Mark laughs.

"It'll surely be quite the lucky night (a/n check out them super subtle references 😂)." He says. You're confused, but you don't ask. Before you know it, your mom is charging down the hallway. You groan and cover your face.

"Aren't you going to introduce me?" Mark asks, watching as your mom races over.

"This is my mom...." You tell him.
Your mom stands next to you, her eyes practically glowing.
Mark sticks out his hand with smile.

"Hi Ms.(y/l/n)" he says. "I like your shirt." You turn to see what my mom is wearing. Its her Markiplier charity shirt, that says king of the squirrels. Oh yeah, you remembered getting it for her birthday about a week before. Your mom smiles brightly.

"Thanks. I love your blue hair" Her and Mark both laugh. You can't help but chuckle. Your mom had worn that shirt on purpose. Mark returns his attention to you.

"Ready to go?" He asks, a charming smile in his eyes. You nod.

"I guess..." Mark shakes his head with a chuckle.

"Bye Mark! Bye (y/n)!" Your mom calls. You and Mark wave and go out to his car.

"Where are we going?" You ask.
Mark smiles to himself.

"It's a surprise." He chuckles. "By the way, you didn't tell me you we're a fan." You shake your head.

"I'm not." You tell him.

"Really? Just your mom?" He sounds surprised.

You are already sick of the YouTube related questions. You would rather get to know Mark, not Markiplier.

"Just her." You reply quietly.

The car is quiet for a moment before Mark says something again.

"I don't mind." Mark says quietly with a soft smile that makes your heart skip a beat. "I really honestly would rather you weren't." He says again.

You're surprised by the sweetness of his tone. You finally felt willing to give this famous man a chance.
