Proposal (Jerza)

Once two people have been together for a while, they may decide it's time to tie the knot. And what's better than to do it on the very day of the year that's the most magical and known ?

~Jellal POV~

~ A couple of days before proposal~

I opened the door to the most famous jewellery shop in Magnolia, ready to pick a ring to surprise my girlfriend with.

This wasn't just any random ring I was going to pick, it was a ring to make her my fiancée so that we eventually tie the knot.

Erza loves Christmas, mostly because that's the day we first met eachother and been friends ever since.

I was stuck in the friend zone for many years, and had to watch her date others, before I finally got the guts to confess to her how I felt. It was probably one of the best decisions I've ever taken.

"Young man, do you need any help ?" Said a small grey haired woman standing behind the counter.

"I'm just having a look just now, Thank you." I say continuing to skim through the endless engagement rings on display.

You see, the thing is that Erza means the whole world to me. In fact Erza is my world. She's my other half, without her I'm no one. Therefore this ring needs to be something special that will blow her away.

I begin pacing back and forth between the rings already having a few in mind that I'd seen.

There was one that was simple and just had a little diamond on the top and then there was another one completely covered in diamonds the whole way round. There was also one which I really liked, it had a tiny red and blue coloured stone gem but was surrounded by white clear diamonds.

I thought about getting her that one because it had red and blue which were our hair colours, but to be honest it wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

I continued my hunt, beginning to get more and more agitated by the minute. I needed to find the perfect ring for her.

"Now now, you look like you're needing a bit of help. Let me help you..." Said the woman walking over to me. "Ahh engagement rings...I see....Well, it has to be very special then. I'll be right back." She said, giving me a cheerful smile while walking up the stairs.

I let out a breathe and shoved my hands in my pockets as I stood there awkwardly waiting for her to come back. I took my phone out to check the time and saw that I had 9 missed calls from Erza. I quickly called her back, worried something was wrong with her.

"Erza, are you ok ?!" I asked panicked, once she finally picked up.

"Do I sound okay to you ?! Jellal where are you ?!" She shouts. Oh boy...

"I'm out with Natsu, why ?" I gulped.

"Well, maybe because while you're out you could replace MY strawberry cake that you ate." I could feel her glaring through the phone.

"Okay, I'll go buy you a new one. I have to go now...Love you..." I said as I let out a chuckle at her toddler like tantrums.

"Me too." She replied. Guess I'll have to make a trip to the bakers then...

Just as I got off the phone, the small woman appeared with a black velvet box. She gently set it on the counter.

"Now, now. These are the most luxurious rings that we have in stock....they aren't very...cheap." She said before opening the box.

"Honestly, if the ring for her is in there, I don't care what the price is because her happiness doesn't have a price to me."

"Well, well. She's a very lucky woman. Now let's get back to business. Ready to see these beauties ?" I nod in response as she slowly reveals the rings inside the box. My eyes widened as soon as I saw them. She wasn't kidding when she said they were beautiful...

"Nice, right ?" She smiled as she saw my reaction. "Take as long as you want to pick and look at them. I'm in no hurry."

I thanked her and scanned each of the rings individually. There really were no words to describe them. They were absolutely breathtaking.

I studied every little detail on them, and after a while finally made a decision.

"Excuse me ma'am, can I please have this one ?" I said as she swiftly made her way to me.

"Oooh, nice choice..she'll love it ! Do you have her ring size so I can get it ordered ? It will be here in two days maximum." She said.

2 days...perfect. That's Christmas Day !

I gave her Erza's ring size as she placed my order. She even decided to give me a little discount on the ring...not that it made much of a difference..

Finally, I have the ring and my speech ready. I can't wait to propose to her !

~ 2 days later ~ Proposal Day !!

I woke up super early that morning, making sure not to wake Erza up.

I went by to the jewellers and collected the ring, as well as giving her a Thankyou gift for her help. Then I went to the bakers to get Erza some strawberry cake.

Once I was back home Erza was already awake, looking for her presents under the tree.

"Jellal, here's your gift but hey...where's mine.." She pouted. I handed her over her strawberry cake.

"Merry Christmas !" I said. Her jaw dropped when she thought the cake was her Christmas present.

"Jellal I-"

"Wait, I need to tell you something important." I said. She was about to open her mouth again, until I got down on one knee and her eyes immediately began welling up.

"Erza, I have loved you ever since I first laid my eyes on you. I remember we met on Christmas Day at the toy store and I accidentally got into your mums car instead of mine. If that wouldn't of had happened then we wouldn't of had become close friends.

We went through primary school together, and we played games such as the prince and the princess and families. We also went to high school together, and I have to admit that was a hard time for me. I had to watch you fall in love and date different guys and not notice how I felt for you.

We even went to university together, and that was when we both realised that our feelings were mutual. The day I asked you out was the best day of my life, along with the day you said yes to being my girlfriend.

How about just as you said yes to be my girlfriend you say yes to being my wife ? And maybe we can make the families game reality.

Erza Scarlet, will you marry me ?"

I got the box out my jacket pocket and opened it. Her eyes widened when she saw the ring and a smile, bigger than before began go form on her face.

"Yes, of course I'll marry you." She said, and now it was my turn to smile. I gently slid the ring onto her hand as she engulfed me in a big tight hug.

"Thank you Jellal, I love you.." She muffled in my neck.

"I love you too Erza..." I said nuzzling my face in the crook of her neck.

"I'll never forget this Christmas.."

"Nor will I." I say proudly. This was the best day of my life.

I can't wait to share the proposal story with my kids in the future !
