Save the Reindeers (NaLu)

~Lucy POV~
"Out of all the missions you could have picked you had to choose one about looking for flying reindeers..."

"Of course. We have to save Christmas !" Natsu fistpumped the air and trudged through the snow into the woods.

"H-hey ! Slow down !" I shouted trying to catch up with him while muttering silent cusses at him. If I wake up with the cold or the flu before Christmas, I will throw his present into the fireplace. Not that he would care anyway, everyone knows he likes Lisanna, not me...but why do I even car ? Natsu is just a friend...I guess...

"Luce ! I found some footprints !" Natsu smiled, lighting a fire with the tip of his finger. Stupid dragon slayer magic. It's so unfair, he can create warmth with the click of a finger meanwhile I have about ten layers on and am still freezing to death.

"Coming." I shuddered. As I walked into the woods I felt myself sink into the abyss. By the time I realised what was going on, I was sliding underground in a sort of ice tunnel.

"Natsuuuuu!" I screamed while skidding down the sloping tunnel. It suddenly came to an abrupt halt causing me to land face first into the icy ground.

"That idiot, it's all his fault." I pulled my face up and wiped my knees off, trying to get the dirt off them and also in attempt to warm me up.

I took the sightings around me in and as scary as being alone in here was, the place looked absolutely magical. The ice was sparkling and there was a series of tunnels leading to who knows where.

I began to wonder whether I should stay put and freeze to death while I wait for Natsu to realise I'm gone or whether I should go into the tunnels and explore and hopefully find a way out somehow. I guess that sounds more sensible.

Without another second hesitation, I took off into the tunnel on the right. It was dark and there was dripping sounds coming from the jaggy walls and icicles on the top of the tunnel. I pulled my jacket closer to me and carefully watched my step in the dimly lit tunnel. Nature fooled me twice and hopefully it won't fool me again.

As I got deeper into the cave it began to get colder, to the point that I could no longer walk. All of a sudden my feet froze to the ground. And I mean ice literally formed around them. I attempted to grab my keys out my pocket but my hand was all of a sudden frozen too and my keys plummeted to the cold, damp floor.

"Wh-what's happening ?!" I said to myself in a panic as I tried to free myself from the ice that was beginning to spread.

"The more you move, the faster it will engulf you and the quicker you will freeze to death." A pair of gloomy red eyes lit from the shadows along with a pair of sharp yellow fangs.

Uh-Oh...

"Let me go !" I shouted proceeding to struggle. This proved to me a mistake as the ice now spread to my shoulder. I let out an excruciating cry of pain as the cold seeped into my skin.

"Told you so." He smirked finally coming out of the shadows.

"What are you ?!" I asked feeling my eyes pop out of my sockets.

"I'm the ice monster and you're my new food." He grinned evilly as he stroked my face with one of his hairy fingers. I scrunched up my nose in disgust.

"What ? You don't like me ? What a shame. I could make you the queen here and we could eat reindeers together..."

"Eat reindeers ?- wait ! You stole the flying reindeers from the Christmas ride in Magnolia ?!"  I questioned. "You're a monster ! So many kids were dying to see them!" I shouted.

"Well, my stomach was rumbling to see them too." He laughed at his own joke. "Why aren't you laughing at my joke ?!"

"Because it sucks." I said.

"You- you won't be getting out of here alive !" He shouted in my face.

"You should really take a mint." I suggested. He really should, I mean I'm not sure if I'll die from the cold or his breath at this point.

AND WHERE THE HELL IS NATSU.

"What are you doing here all alone anyway ?"

"Nothing, just casually walking around-WHAT DO YOU THINK ? I'm here to get those reindeers but I somehow fell into your stupid hideout!" I shrieked.

"Oh shut up. You're really beginning to annoy me. I think it's time I end you." He growled. He squeezed his fist and shut his eyes. All of a sudden the ice began racing up my legs and down my arms. "Once it covers you all up, you're dead."

Natsu ! Please come and save me.

I mentally shouted. He always comes at the right time and he is always there for me when I am in need, I guess that's why I'm not scared. I know he will come....hopefully in time.

"Get away from her !" The ice monster was suddenly thrown into the wall causing icicles to fall on it. The ice around me immediately broke, freeing me from the ice prison I was trapped in. I plummeted down to my knees and began to shiver. That was a close call, but I knew he'd come, he always does.

"Luce ! Are you all right ?" He asked, racing by my side.

"I am now. Thank you." I smiled at him warmly. He grinned back at me, and kept his gaze focused on mine.

"Well done, you found the reindeers ! Now let's get back home so I can give you the present I got you." Natsu smiled, blushing a little.

"A present for me ?"

"Yeah, Lisanna and Mira helped me pick it."

"That's so sweet Natsu. Thank you."

"Anything for you. Oh ! You must be freezing , here take my jacket ." Natsu unhinged his jacket and placed it on me and immediately I was engulfed by warmth.

"Thank you." I blushed.

"Reindeers !" The little kids began shouting as they raced to let them and have a ride on them.

"Well done Natsu and Lucy ! You did a fine job." Mira winked at us. "You can leave now."

I gave Mira a quick hug and gave her her gift along with a Christmas card. I made sure to pick a really pretty one since Mira was extremely welcoming to me ever since I joined the guild.

"Luce, come here." Natsu smiled, standing underneath one of the trees covered in snow. "I got this for you but I'm not sure.." He tenderly gave me the gift which was wrapped messily with sellotape and the wrapping paper scruffily put on, but I still loved it because it was from him.

As I unwrapped the gift, I noticed it was a snowglobe of me, Natsu and happy and when I shook it the snow former the letters "will you be my girlfriend ?"

My jaw dropped rendering me speechless. I couldn't believe what had just happened.

"I'm sorry maybe I-"

"Yes." I spoke up finally. I'm surprised I didn't scream like my internal fangirl was doing.

"Yes ?"

"Yes Natsu, I will be your girlfriend."

"Finally !" He smiled pulling me into his chest and giving me a small peck on my head.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this moment." He said in a muffled voice.

At that moment, my heart felt so warm and happy. Christmas sure is a magical time of the year where love rises above all.
