The Unwanted Surprise

We walk down the hall and wait for the elevator. When the doors open, we see two young teenage girls, probably around sixteen years old. At first, they look at us in disbelief -- they recognize Lana. "Oh my god you're Lana Del Rey!" one of the girls shouts. Lana awkwardly laughs. "Yes, I am. How are you?" she asks hugging each girl. The three of them begin talking as we take the elevator down to the lobby. Instead of engaging in the conversation, I decide to observe: observe the girls and laugh at how they're totally fangirling, but more so to observe Lana. I'm curious to see how she interacts with her fans and how she responds to the constant attention. As they are talking, I can't help but stare. I notice that Lana is genuinely invested in the conversation. She cares about them and all of the compliments they're throwing at her that she has already heard a million times. I can tell that their kind words and compliments mean the world to her, yet she is still insanely modest. While I'm having all these thoughts, Lana's eyes shoot over to me. Shit, she caught me staring. I blush and give her a teethy, silly smile. She quiets her giggle to not seem disinterested in her fans. In this moment, I remember just how lucky I am to be with her here and now. I'm excited for our day together.

When the doors open, the girls ask for a picture with Lana. She eagerly agrees and hands me the phone. "Here, you take it. Your photography skills are being put to the test. Can you handle it?" she asks playfully while giving me a little wink. "Pff, can I handle it? Give me the camera. You're about to witness the greatest picture of all time," I reply. Lana lets out a cute, big laugh as she sandwiches herself between the two girls. "Ready: 1, 2, pepsi colaaa," I say making a playful jab at Lana. She gives me a fake mad face as the two girls laugh. She hugs them goodbye and they go on their way. When they leave, she comes over and pinches my side. "You think you're so funny don't you?" she asks teasingly. "No, I don't think -- I know!" I reply with a sassy smile. She giggles and takes my hand, leading me to the exit. "Well, come on then little miss comedian. We have some shopping to do!"

As we exit the lobby of the hotel, there is a car waiting for us. It's a tiny red sports car. It's super cute and even a little sexy. I didn't recognize it considering we were driven to the hotel last night in a black SUV. "You like our ride for the day?" Lana asks proudly. "Yeah I do, a lot! Where'd you get it?" "I rented it considering today's a special day and all," she says with a smile. "Oh, I see. Well I love it!" "Good, you'll look good in it!" she says as we both get in. She sticks the keys in the ignition, turns it on and then revs the engine. I'm not going to lie; Lana behind the wheel of this car is kinda turning me on. I guess I was staring because Lana asks "What? Did that turn you on or something?" "Maybe a little," I reply with a laugh. "Well good, that's the goal." As she says this, she leans over and gives me a big kiss. She pulls away and lingers close to my face for a few seconds staring intensely into my eyes. God she's beautiful. "Try to keep it in your pants until after the mall, okay?" she jokingly demands. I roll my eyes and turn on the radio as she drives away.

When we arrive to the mall it is really busy. I'm kinda worried for her since there are all these people; some of them are bound to notice her. That has to get annoying after awhile. "You ready?" Lana asks as she parks the car. "Yeah, I am," I say anxiously. "Babe, what's wrong?" "Nothing, I'm just a little worried for you is all. I don't want you to get attacked by people." She laughs. "Aww honeyyy, that's so sweet of you. No, I will be fine! I'm wearing my baseball cap and we will try and keep a low profile. Even if people do notice me, it will be fine. I'll just say hi, sign an autograph or take a picture and that will be it, okay? Don't worry, I will be fine!" I smile reassured, "Okay babe!"

"Where to first?" Lana asks. "Hmmm, I don't know! Do they have an H&M?" She rolls her eyes, "Seriously?" "What?" I reply confused. "I modeled for H&M," she says. I burst out in laughter. "Oh my god, I swear I totally forgot about that. I just love the store. Please don't hate me," I say with a pouty face. She smirks and pulls me into a hug. "Fine, we'll go to H&M first," she says leading me. As we walk through the mall, we interlock arms and people-watch together. The mall is huge! It's like five stories or something. We get lost on our way to H&M, but eventually find it. As we walk in, we start to casually browse around. We grab a few things here and there to try on and, after perusing the entire store, we head to a dressing room. I have about four items to try on: a pair of flowy shorts, a graphic-T, a skirt, and a dress. The attendant takes me to my dressing room and puts Lana right beside me. We talk to each other through the wall as we try our clothes on. The flowy shorts ended up looking too frumpy, the graphic-T was too see-through and the skirt was a bit too short. I'm a bit apprehensive as I try on the sparkly silver bodycon dress because I worry it may be too tight. After I put it on though, I thought it looked pretty good, but I wanted Lana's opinion on it. Just as I was about to call her out by name, I realized I probably shouldn't yell out Lana in order to avoid attention. "Hey, um, Lizzy?" I call out hesitantly. "Yeah babe, what's up?" she replies to my disbelief. "Come look at this dress and tell me what you think. I'm not sure about it." She quickly comes over and swipes the curtain open. As she does this, her eyebrows raise and her mouth opens a bit. Shit, it must be too scandalous. "So?" I ask nervously. "You looking fucking incredible in that. I'm buying it for you for tonight. It's perfect!" I blush. "Aw, thank you! You keep talking about tonight, what is happening?! I can't stand not knowing anymore!" She takes pleasure in my torture. "God, you have no patience do you? Well if you must know, I made reservations for us tonight at a very fancy restaurant. In fact, we're going to have the whole place to ourselves besides a few workers and a small band." My heart stops for a second. No one has ever done anything remotely close to this for me. I've never been surprised by anyone, let alone spoiled by anyone. I get a bit choked up and run over to her pulling her into a tight hug. "Thank you," I say softly. "Aw, babe you're welcome. I wanted to! It is our last night together after all so we need to make it special." As she says this, I get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I forgot today was our last night together. God, I never want to leave her. I love being around her and spending time with her. She's the most amazing person I've ever met. I don't want it to end.
