I drove Dylan around all day to all my favorite places. First was the skate park next was the movie theater then on to the roller skate place down the road. As we climbed back into my car Dylan closed her eyes and I could tell she was exhausted.
“Just one more stop ok?” I assured her.
“Yeah, sorry I’m just really tired.” She apologized.
“You don’t have to apologize I understand.” I said. I started up the car and drove down a very familiar street. We arrived at the big house and as I got out of the car to open Dylan’s door I could tell she was confused.
“Where are we?” she asked with a confused expression.
“Alex’s house.” I said and started to walk to the door. A sly grin formed on my face because I knew she had no clue who that was.
“Who the hell is Alex?” I ignored her question and giggled. I walked through the door without even knocking because this was my second home. However Dylan was a little more spectacle. She walked in the door as if she was in the middle of war and someone was going to shoot her. After she got through the door she started observing everything. I grabbed her hand and dragged her down the hall into Alex’s room. When we walked in the whole crew was there, Alex, Zack, Robert and Tyler, and they were playing a video game. Alex and Zack were sitting on the bed and Tyler and Robert were sitting on the floor. They didn’t look over but they said hey to me, assuming it was just me. I waited till their game was over and they just stared at me, waiting for me to tell them who the girl was. Usually I bring girls around here all the time, but I don’t usually keep them for that long. I knew Dylan would be different though; but they didn’t.
“Guys this is Dylan.” I said.
“Hi Dylan, I’m Alex.” Alex informed her.
“Oh so you’re the famous Alex.” She said. Alex gave me a look, but I ignored it.
“I’m Zack.”
“I’m Robert, and that nerd over there is Tyler.” Robert said. Tyler quickly glanced up from his IPhone and realized there was a girl here.
“Hey I’m not a nerd!” he retorted.
“Yes you are Tyler.” Zack joined in. Dylan looked uncomfortable so I changed the subject.
“Dylan just moved here from Miami.” I said.
“Oh really, that’s cool,” Alex said “did you like it there?”
“Yeah it’s nice there,” She answered while sitting down on the desk chair behind her, “I miss it already.”
“Well I’m sure Austin has shown you a good time.” Robert said winking at me. I gave him a glare, but he didn’t catch along.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“He just means I’m a really good tour guide.” I butted in.
“Yeah totally.” Robert said and him, Alex and Tyler started cracking up.
“We better get going; Dylan is really exhausted from her trip.” I said, trying to save everything.
“We can stay a little longer, if you want.” Dylan said.
“Yeah stay, stay.” The boys said in unison. Crap, what do I say now?
“I mean I guess we could stay a little longer.” I answered, because I couldn’t think of an excuse. All I knew was that if the boys said anything about me I was going to kill them all.
“I’m gonna go to the bathroom.” Dylan said standing up.
“Ok, it’s the first door on the right.” I directed her and she walked out of the room.
“What the hell Robert! I actually like this girl, and I didn’t tell her about me!” I yelled as soon as she was out of hearing range.
“Sorry dude, I didn’t know. Maybe you shouldn’t have brought her here if you didn’t want us to say stupid shit.” He answered.
“Or maybe you guys shouldn’t say stupid shit!” I retorted.
“That would be impossible.” Alex butted in.
“Whatever.” I responded.
“So when are you going to tell her?” Zack asked.
“I don’t know.” I answered quietly.
“What are you afraid of?” Alex asked.
“That’s she won’t want to talk to me anymore; it’s not exactly easy dating a celebrity you know.” I answered.
“No I don’t know, and neither do you. You’ll never know what’s gonna happen if you don’t try.” He responded.
“Dude you sound like a fortune cookie.” I laughed.
“Dude all I’m trying to say is if you don’t want to lose her, you might wanna tell her soon.” He said.
“Tell me what?” Dylan asked, walking through the door. Shit.
“Um… um…” I didn’t know what to say. It’s weird though; usually I’m good on the spot.
“He said he really likes you and he wants to take you out.” Alex saved me.
“Oh,” she blushed and then turned to face me, “I’d love to.” That was close, I thought.
“Ok, well I think I better get you home.” I said.
“Ok. It was nice to meet you guys.” Dylan said.
“Yeah it was nice to meet you too.” They all replied. We walked outside and I opened Dylan’s door for her and she got in.
“What is it that you really had to tell me?” she asked once I got in the car. I knew it was too good to be true that she believed me. I sat there for a minute and tried to gather my words in my mind as Dylan stared at me, waiting for my answer.
“Well first of all, my last name is Mahone, and I don’t know if that means anything to you but I’m YouTube famous and I recently got signed to a record label and I’m working on my first album.”
“Wow.” Was all she said.
“I understand if you don’t want to go out with me anymore.” I said, looking down at the ground.
“Of course I still want to go out with you; it’s just a lot to take in at one time.” she said.
“Yeah I totally understand.” I said and started the car.
When we pulled into my drive way I got out of the car and opened Dylan’s door. I walked her over to her door and then stood there awkwardly for a second.
“I had fun today.” Dylan said, breaking the silence.
“So did I.” I smiled. Dylan looked down at the ground and blushed. I put my hand to her chin and lifted up her chin. I looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. The only time I took my eyes off hers is when I looked at her lips and then straight back to her eyes. I leaned in and kissed her softly, as if she would shatter into pieces at my touch. I pulled away; even though I didn’t want to.
“Goodnight.” I whispered in her ear.
“Goodnight.” She answered and I walked back to my house. I didn’t hear her door shut till I reached my driveway, which means she was watching me; which was cute.
