The town took on a different atmosphere when deprived of natural light. You peered curiously into shop windows and houses alike, the bright lanterns and families within an inviting sight. Despite the ever present silhouette of the looming walls made even more ominous by moonlight, the town remained a wonder to those usually secluded to the training camp.A frigid breeze teased at your skin sending a cold shiver down your spine as you both trapised the near empty paths. Taking note of this, Armin pulled you closer to him- silver light danced atop his brow as you peered into his eyes during the warming embrace. "It's not far now..." He whispered.

The small tavern was on the more secluded edge of town, aside from you two only a table of miners were there enjoying an early evening snack. You sat together laughing and joking before you raised a previous topic that'd been left dormant.

"So, about this ocean place..." Armin watched with a smile lingering from the last joke you told. You looked away to prevent another burst of laughter, albeit, much to your company's delight a small giggle escaped.

"There are entirely new species, ones unlike anything we've ever seen."

You took a sip from your cup before speaking again. "You know... From illustrations, I think I know exactly what the ocean might look like."

He tilted his head in interest, "A massive body of water?"

You nodded though explained further. "A deep shade of blue only made even more beautiful when light hits it, surrounded by silky, gold sand." Your voice trailed off, as though speaking in a tone of narration as you stared him eye to eye.

You felt your heart accelerate it's beat in anticipation as you both leaned in closer. He was less than an inch away from you, your eyes closed in welcoming. Slowly and gently he advanced towards the kiss.Though, you never felt the soft collision of your lips. Your vision, once allowed again, opened to a wide eyed Armin. You feared he'd changed his mind about the near exchange of affection though there was a different mien dusting his face. His eyes were fixed to the front end of the tavern, though his head dared not to follow. You couldn't help but hold a similar gaping mouth as you rued catching the attention of the midnight haired female.

Her mouth twitched as she spoke, her evident shock only rivalled by the blond sitting before her. "Armin?" She questioned in disbelief. "Y/n? What are you too-" Her eyes studied the the small gap between you two and there was a notable reaction of embarrassment as she realised the situation. Without any kind words of departure you both bolted from your seats with the intention of leaving only the bill as proof of your presence.

The back door was utilised for an alley way escape. You panted- despite being fit from hours of gruelling military based training, such a surprise had left you gasping for air. In a short interval you managed to choke out the words "I thought they were going to the other end of town?" Armin merely blinked before rising to his full stature once again. He didn't comment, and merely stared back at the door you'd raced out of moments ago. There was a disheartened, shameful lack of a spark in his eyes- likely from mulling over the one unfortunate event in what was otherwise, an amazing night. Your brows knitted together and you smiled gently cupping your hand in his before giving it a light squeeze.

"Let's go for a walk," you suggested. Thankfully, Armin was liberated of his doubts and eagerly agreed to the idea. As you neared the corner, your date jumped to a grinding stop and stopping you from proceeding with his forearm. You were confused for a moment before a set of familiar voices could be heard. Sasha was laughing about something, Jean and Eren were in between veritable growls and chuckles as they playfully shoved each in other in light of a recent argument no doubt. The ruckus ceased for a moment as another set of footsteps could be heard.

"Oh hey Mikasa is it busy in there?" Inquired Eren.

"Nno.." She spoke in an irresolute manner, her encounter with you and Armin the likely reasoning.

"Mikasa are you okay?" Your breath hitched at the sound of Eren's voice once again; this was the end, you and Armin would be the subjects of endless teasing for sure. Armin cringed at his best friend's question. A thought that haunted him the most was that of Jean gloating, wielding their relationship as a success story for his many attempts at giving Armin romantic advice. A field in which he, dare the blond say it, was not at his strongest just yet.

There was a deathly silence for a moment, your heart beat almost as quickly as the thoughts rushing through your head blurred together. You waited in anticipation to a positive end.

"Nope, lets go." Without a second thought your group made their way to the very tavern you were sheltered behind. You remained paused, mentally repeating the words:'thankyou Mikasa'.

A/N: jesus christ I got a bit cheesy there I'm sorry.
