You muttered a few words of frustration as you strode towards the familiar oak door of the corporals office. A single piece of misplaced paper lay clutched lightly in your palm. Such was a sight that was now becoming common- how one managed to continually confuse paperwork clearly addressed to the captain with your documents baffled you. Whether it was a spiteful teammate attempting to make your new position as squad leader difficult, or an annoying coincidence you did not know. Neither seemed to matter as you placed an echoing knock that rattled the door before you."Name and business?" Piped a voice from within.
"Squad leader L/n sir, It's about paperwork," you bit your tongue in slight nerve before a muffled 'come in' laced with irritability warranted your entry. The door slid open to reveal the crow haired male at his desk, his eyes remained devoid of warmth as they landed on you. Both sets of eyes stared locked and refuse to budge for a moment, it was an act of bravery on your part that was somewhat unsettling in it's end product.
"Well come on Y/n, I don't have all day..." He merely stated, you were surprised at his willingness to utilise your first name. Despite having been under the same command for several years, the two of you shared only short conversations that usually ended in him abruptly excusing himself for more important matters. You couldn't let that trouble you now however, for you'd be leading your own squad and would have to be a prime example or coordination even when not verbally communicating.
"I have a document of yours sir," you presented the slip to him. He sighed muttering something inaudible before speaking the thought on both your minds.
"Again? What idiot sorts this stuff out?!" He grunted presenting a similar page intended for your possession. You smiled in thanks before carefully folding it and placing it in your pocket.
"I have no idea, but I sure hope they aren't one of our head strategists," it was intended to be a joke but at the same time it could be seen as a very true concern.
His frame rocked slightly as he let out a small breath of amusement before agreeing, "That makes two of us."

You palm gently tapped the side of your bay stallion as he obediently accepted the weight of the saddle on his back. The creature's lengthy face rubbed against you affectionately, in return your fingertips gently traced it's ears. You smiled as the equine playfully shook his forelock before turning his head in greeting to another mount and it's rider.
The coal black coat of Levi's stallion was instantly recognisable, you were somewhat surprised the corporal had chosen to pass the time in a similar manner to you. You two exchanged only a nod in greeting before he led the equine (whom's height was greatly exaggerated by Levi's stature, or lack of it thereof) into it's stable.
You worked to tighten the girth around your own horse, placing your fingertips between it and the animal's side to ensure it was tight enough before searching around for your bridle. Resting haphazardly on the edge of the metal fixture separating two stables was a bridle much too small to be your own stallion's delegated tack. You picked it up, inspecting the cognac leather for a name. The voice of your superior prematurely pulled you from your investigation.
"Y/n, I believe this belongs to you." He leant against the stable door with a more fitting piece of equipment in his raised grasp. You followed his subtle gaze that danced upon the offending bridle in your own hands before making an exchange.
"Thankyou Captain. Someone clearly has it in for us," you chuckled slightly, though were somewhat fearful now that such occurrences were more than just a coincidence.
