A/n: This starts off in Levi's Pov. Hope fully this one doesn't drag on for ages like my last- I have a bad habit of making oneshots long, though i can never focus on writing a full length fic (I am a special child). Even though sometimes my imagines can be as long as a normal fanfic chapter... Anyway, have some fluffy Levi.He was a lifelong insomniac- sleeping in or to an hour most would only begin to think of rising at was notably unlike him. Perhaps that was why he found it so odd that minimal sleep had taken it's toll on him on this particular morning. He sat at the table with his squad; his usual demeanour heightened in irritability and snappiness. Many avoided him at this time, intimidated and fearing for the safety of their own skin. Of course, he preferred the peace of a day with minimal interruptions, though the usual sense of quiet that accompanied occasions like this was not present . It was almost as though the cadets were making it their mission to piss him off, at least that was the notion that his migraine had produced. His form clenched at the sound of spoons colliding unceremoniously with plates. Combined the cacophonous background noise of pointless conversations overlapping each other, he couldn't help but raise a palm to his forehead in fatigue. There was one topic of banter in the table across from him he found himself unable to ignore. He recognised Jaeger amidst the group of faces enamoured by the display of the Cadet he soon learnt was named 'Jean'. The way he proudly disclosed a selection of terrible pickup lines was insufferable, why Levi was listening he did not know; he risked gaining a sick stomach at every word spoken alongside a headache.
"Do you believe in love at first sight or do I have to walk by again?"
"You look alot like my next girlfriend"
"Baby I better report you to the MP for stealing my heart"
Jaeger let out a huff and verbalised the thought on everyone's mind: "Jean no girl would want you with weak ass pickup lines like that." The culprit challenged this claim and placed down a wager in response.
"Oh yeah? You wanna bet on it?" His tone reeked of cockiness, the stupidity conveyed was almost impressive.
"You're on."
"Alright, if I can get a girl to smile or blush you have to cop any punishments I get from the corporal for a week." He could almost hear the boy's grin in his tenor. Had he been less amused by their endeavours he'd have ordered them to do laps that instant for including him in some meaningless game.
"It's a deal." Jeager paused before speaking at a still audible whisper, "Here's your chance."
"Morning Y/n!" The chirpy voice of Petra instantly pulled him to focus as you approached the table. He stared at you, in a manner that was as lukewarm as ever, though deep down he was suppressing a gaze of sheer admiration.
He dared not admit it but he liked you more than the others, you were kind and treated even the most mundane conversations you shared with enough enthusiasm for the both of you. To put it simply, the ailment he'd acquired went unnoticed during your presence.
"Levi are you feeling ok?" Your voice was silvery and laced with a hint of concern. Others would have brushed off his plight in fear- well, he couldn't blame them. You dared to address him by his first name, you dared to approach him about about topics other than the menial affairs of paperwork- you dared to treat him as a human being.
"Headache," he delivered the single word answer monotonously. Your brows joined at the admittance before a smile graced your features.
"I'll be right back," you smiled at him, his hawk grey eyes trailing after you as you left.
You returned a few minutes later, a platter with a teapot and cups for everyone at the table in tow. Before you could place it down and take your seat however, you were the chosen victim for the failed Casanova's half of the bet.
"Excuse me" you turned to face the cadet. You tilted your head your head at his obvious attempt at a suave pose.
"I knew it when I first laid my eyes on you, but I guess theres no doubt about it- you really are a cu'tea'pie," he polished it off with a wink. You felt a flush of crimson coupled with an involuntary grin, you'd been reduced to a swooning mess at the cheesy line. Levi had to muffle a 'tch' at the pathetic attempt at flirtation, perhaps influenced by jealousy.
The sound of Jean rejoicing made Levi even more irritated, Jaeger muttered something of disbelief. You went about distributing the cups of tea, an obvious glint in your eyes from the event. At last a single cup remained, one specially brewed and mixed with medicinal elements to cure his affliction.
"This should make you feel better Levi, I hope it's nice and hot and sweet," you commented- hoping it'd appease his standards. His heart leapt at the opportunity presented before him, a thought so boyish he feared he may blend in with the table of cadets beside him. By the time he had the capacity to consider pushing the sentence back down, it had already been spoken.
"If it's anything like you Y/n, it sure will be." His eyes widened at his own bluntness, certain ignominy dusted his cheeks. Hanji was unable to suppress a giggle as it appeared all eyes were boring through him in pure astonishment. He could feel Jaegar and his friends pause as they too heard the statement.
You held the cup mid air, dumbfounded and in disbelief that such a phrase was sourced from Corporal Levi. The blush returned instantaneously and twice as severely. You longed to say something back though you couldn't muster the courage out of feat that this was some weird dream. You stared at him, a proud smirk reached his eyes assuring you he meant exactly what he'd said. In an act equally as rash you placed the cup before him and inched closer, bending down in line with his ear.
"It's damn hot, not as much as you though," the words slipped put in a smoky tone before you took your place at the table. Petra nudged your shoulder in banter and you merely shot a wink at the coal haired corporal at the end of the table.
Jean, having witnessed the entire event, huffed in awe before craning over towards Levi.
"Aye corporal mind teaching me your-" he was cut off by the very person he was hoping to receive advice from.
"20 laps now." Jean was perplexed though merely grunted as his only act of defiance. Jaeger snickered before patronising him; "Don't worry Jean, you got Y/n to blush a little. Now it's your turn to be left breathless, literally."
"Make that 50 laps, you too Jaeger." His grimace immediately ceased and he muttered several obscenities.
No one in your squad dared to raise the incident again that morning as they feared they too may have to abide by a similar command. Every so often you'd catch his gaze, those misty eyes many wrongly dubbed emotionless collided with your own e/c orbs. You'd come to know better however; the slightest smile in his direction, the most tedious conversation- those misty greys were better titled smoky after a wildfire of joy only seen by those daring enough to hold his gaze.
A sight only ever seen by you.
