POV-- Raven

The paralyzed feeling I had had over at the gravestone still runs chills up my spine. Why did that happen? Was someone watching me? I ask myself. I quietly walk home, the chilly air numbs my bare legs and arms. I rub my arms, trying to warm myself up, but it doesn't work. Almost home, I tell myself. Almost home.....ugh.

I look around as I walk down the dark, empty streets towards home. I hear dogs barking, and the screech of tires as some idiot blows out his tires. I roll my eyes, stupid people. I feel a shiver run over my body as I hear the bush moving in the wind, and then I hear the snap of a twig. I jump and take look around. I see no one, but just to be cautious I hurry home. My body gets shaky with fear and I walk faster, coming up to my driveway I run around to the back door and run inside, quietly.

As soon I closed the door, I stand very still, listening. The house is dark, and quiet, and I pray they both be sleeping. I take off my shoes and padded upstairs quietly, and over to my room. Passing my mom's room, I stop to listen for her breathing. As soon as I hear her snoring, I tiptoe pass her door. Knowing my brother is probably watching TV, I know I won't be able to hear him. I rush quietly into my room and quietly shut the door as fast as possible.

I turn around and walk over to my desk, turning on my lantern light. I undo my dress, and slip it off. I open my wardrobe and fish around for a tank top and shorts. I slip them on, and close it. The doors screech slightly, but not enough to wake anyone. I take a look around my room, and sit down at my desk. My wall above my desk is full of posters, of my favourite bands, movies, and equestrian competitors. I open my apple computer, and as soon as it opens up my desktop, I have a message notification.

Jessica Bailey: Hey

I smile as I see her name, as Jessica is my long time best friend. Considering I'm not tired, It'd probably be okay to stay up and talk a bit.

Me: Hey Jess

Not expecting her to reply anytime soon, I log onto Facebook. With no notifications, I scroll down the newsfeed.

Ding Ding Ding , the notification goes off. I open the page and set it on the side of the screen so I can see it.

Jessica Bailey: You're still up?

Me: Yea.

I watch the screen as the chat bubble comes up as she types. I smile, I always loved how she and I have quick reply times.

Jessica Bailey: Why are you up man, you okay?

Me: Yeah, went for a walk after supper.

Jessica Bailey: Ooohhh, where to?

Me: The big cemetery, just on the outskirt of town.

Jessica Bailey: The Moorin Mansion Cemetery?

Me: Yea that one.

Her reply took a while after that, as she was suspicious of the cemetery. The chat bubble continues to bob as my stomach starts to growl. I rub it, and sigh. I wonder... I walk over to my wardrobe. Beside it, tucked into the corner of the wardrobe and the wall, is a guitar. I move the guitar and run my hands along the wall. I find the ridge, and open it as a secret door. It's about four foot high, and three wide, small door with enough room to get inside. I take a step inside and grab the flashlight we keep beside the opening. I turn it on and look around the top of the ceiling in the hidden room Is a little taller than the door, so I'm only a little haunched over. To my right is were a mattress is sitting on the floor, covered in blankets and some pillows. To the left, is a small TV on the floor, some CD stacked on one side, and a cupboard-like-thing on the other side. There's a shelf that runs about 4 feet off the ground on that side of the room. To be realistic, this is like a hallway. The walls are probably 5 feet high, the room itself is about 5 feet wide, and probably 10 feet long. I look in the cupboard beside the TV, and find snacks such as chips, chocolate bars, granola bars, and cookies. I pull out a couple cookies, and a bag of BBQ lays chips.

Ding Ding Ding

I quietly close the door, and put the guitar back in it's place. I quietly walked over to my bed and put down my food. I grab my computer from my desk, unplug it, and sit on my bed with my back against my wall

Jessica Bailey: That's not safe, Raven. That place is creepy and it has a really bad past.

Me: What do you mean?

Jessica Bailey: You don't know about the Moorin's?...

Me: No...

Jessica Bailey: I gatta tell you all of it then.

Me: okay? Go for it.

Jessica Bailey: Okay so you remember the story that Mrs. Baxter told us in social of grade 9 right?

Me: Yea.

Jessica Bailey: Okay so apparently it's true..

Me: What? But that's a bit extreme isn't it?..

Jessica Bailey: Yea I know, it's messed up man. It was in the newspaper my dad showed me at the diner today. They found proof of it two years after it happened, and after the stories spread around town....

Me: Well, I don't know Jess. That story is pretty unrealistic, and not to mention, this town is so small any rumour could've been started and modified it..

Jessica Bailey: Yea I know. But I'm not kidding, that year it was seriously the front page of every paper!

Me: Wow what the heck happened.

Jessica Bailey: I know most of the full story, or at least what similar pieces I've put together from the stories, newspapers, and stuff.

Me: How much is there man?

I look over at the time, it's 1:43am. Crap I shoulda been in bed a while ago.

Jessica Bailey: There's so much to tell you.

Me: wow....

Shrrrrrmmmmm..

YOU STUPID THING I yelled in my head. I had accidently put pressure on the power button and it shut off........... I had finished eating my cookies, and some chips. I put the bag on the nightstand beside my bed and I slid my computer onto the desk. I turned off my lantern, and got under the covers. I relaxed my body, and heard my phone go off.

Jessica Bailey: (6) iMessages

I ignored my phone, and snuggled up in my covers. I heard the soft creaking of my door being slowly opened, and I sat up, my heart started beating fast.

"Raven?" I heard a soft voice ask. I sighed, and got out of bed, walking over to my door.

"Hey Lilly, why are you up?" I asked the little girl as I kneeled down infront of her.

"I can't sleep Ravey." Lilly said, rubbing her eyes. I hugged her and she put her arms around my neck. I picked her up, and closed my door. I walked over to my bed and set her in, and climbed in. She cuddled up next to me and I wrapped her in the blankets.

She cuddles up close, and I realize she has her stuffed bunny Mimi, and I cuddle the both of them. I can hear the vibrations of people texting me, but I don't move. Lilly is important to me, and I don't want to disrupt her sleep.

I close my eyes, and relaxes my body. Now I feel tired, and I feel my body get light like someone was lifting me up and soon enough I feel myself fall asleep.
